Su-57

43.1k sakkijarven  1.3 years ago

This is my first time to build planes on SimplePlanes! So please leave your precious advise for this plane if it have any problems when you playing.

And sincerely thanks to @JoshuaW's guidance about the plane's Flying Control System.

But, this is still a fighter who can change the rules of Air Battles in SimplePlanes!

Funky-trees missile that Ice Base couldn't intercept

Instructions

Throttle<10%: fold all wings
Throttle<20%: taxi onto the runway with speed limit is 36km/h
Throttle>20%: Lift off.
AG1: hIgher AOA changing mode.
AG2: Supersonic Cruise
AG8: Unfold all wings

History in reality

The Sukhoi Su-57(NATO reporting name: Felon) is a twin-engine stealth multirole fighter aircraft developed by Sukhoi. It is the product of the PAK FA programme, which was initiated in 1999 as a more modern and affordable alternative to the MFI (Mikoyan Project 1.44/1.42). Sukhoi's internal designation for the aircraft is T-50. The Su-57 is the first aircraft in Russian military service designed with stealth technology and is intended to be the basis for a family of stealth combat aircraft.

A multirole fighter capable of aerial combat as well as ground and maritime strike, the Su-57 incorporates stealth, supermaneuverability, supercruise, integrated avionics, and large internal payload capacity. The aircraft is expected to succeed the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the Russian military service and has also been marketed for export. The first prototype aircraft flew in 2010, but the program experienced a protracted development due to various structural and technical issues that emerged during trials, including the destruction of the first production aircraft in a crash before its delivery. After repeated delays, the first Su-57 entered service with the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS)[N 2] in December 2020. Not counting prototype test aircraft, a total of 11 had been produced as of December 2022.

@PlanesbyDid0 Oh my, your speed is too fast.

Hello @sakkijarven, can u please fix this: i upgraded this plane to be able to go 1500mph to match the real plane, but when i turn the plane at around 900mph+ it explodes. Can you please fix this.

Mind if I ask more questions? Particularly on a code on this fighter? And a few on Flight models? Also if you had a discord I could just contact you there.

Hey a little problem with this aircraft. Whenever u turn 730+ mph it explodes. Is that supposed to happen or no?

    idk.
The layout of 2 engines and 2 smaller thrusters I used is copied from an F-35.

Oh okay! Makes way more sense. Was just about to call out voodoo!. And i guess the engines can also move independently. I think you might have made a hybrid between the X-32 and X-35, with a touch of harrier.

    @ToeTips
    Yea.
2 powerful engines, one front and one at the tail pipe, when it moves, it's really compensating for unwanted movement.
Also, 2 more in the wings to correct the roll movement.

Surely you must have used more than two main engines

How the fuck is it capable of holding angles without changing its speed, altitude or general position in space without a gyro???!

Actually I did not, I guess I've only put it only in guided bombs.

Oh I see, well it served that purpose well.

Also sorry, one more thing! Did you use Gyros in the VTOL systems on the F-35B?

    Thanks!
Actually I just want more authenticity so I decide to put wing piece in my flaps lol.

Also im guessing the reason why the F-35 bravo has real wings in its flaps is because it uses that to slow down when transitioning from STOL to VTOL

And finally! I love how your felon moves, it just feels like the craft is alive.

    That's a lot lol.
    But here goes.
    .
    .
    .
Do the shape of wings truly make any difference?

    Fortunately, no.

Does effecting the Scale of wings affect it? Cause the CoL was shifting

I guess it isn't, there are many build with super small scaled wing and it fly fine, I think CoL shift because the position shift because of scaling.

I see you didnt add wing parts to the trailing flaps of the F-22, i guess due to how lift works in the game?

They are actually fake flaps, the real thing is control surfaces in the wings part, my F-35 actually had wings piece in it's flaps though.

I guess realistic wing loading makes a craft more realistic in the game? Cause that is what i did for my latest build, although i can now make something even more realistic due to studying your Felon.

Realistic wing loading is a big part of being realistic. It can make you feel the difference between glider, fighter, bomber and flying brick.

    Fuselage
Where is the most ideal place to keep and remove drag?

I remove all drag at first, then add drag for big piece of fuselage. Like main body and wings. I also use airbrake piece with Funky Tree to simulate high AoA drag.

    Rotors
I just discovered the xml value damper multiplier by studing your nozzle inorder to make one for a build (it fully works and it moves like yours, although it is a bit off center in STOL mode). And also different builds have different levels of damper. Is this because of the strict PID controller?

I use damper for it to move like an actual hydraulic but sometime it make the rotator too slow to react and make PID useless so I have to decrease damper as needed.

    FT
Can you give a simple PID controller? Like just a bug standard controller, i would better understand it.

    Guess this help.

I used to have more but i had them answered by studying you lol, i feel like i would have more though.

    Good luck.

Okay no problem! Also in that time i have been studying your builds, ive learned a lot especially your build philosophy of "Limitation breeds innovation" or "Less is more", i might be reaching though.
