Hi!
Been awhile since I've posted anything here, and I wanted to put something up that I've been working off-and-on for a while now. So here it is: An updated take on the F-4S, probably my favorite plane around, this one based off of the one found at the Udvar Hazey Museum in Virginia that I've been lucky to see often.
For the plane itself, the F-4S was a modernized Phantom that incorporated leading edge slats for greater maneuverability, smokeless engines, additional RWR equipment, and many other improvements to bring new life to the Phantom platform. This one in particular comes from VMFA-232, which conducted missions out of multiple bases in the Vietnam war, notably the Royal Thai Air Base Nam Phong to support Operation Linebacker in 1972.
For weapons, his model comes equipped with 2 air to air missiles and a single Mark 4 Navy gun pod. On the airframe side, the wings have automatic slats as well as modeled ducting, as well as gear and countermeasure bays. It will perform well in the sky, but I wasn't able to get the catapult positioning to work well enough so I went back to the default one :/ Be careful on landings, as the gear does have travel, but the extra detail bits can get screwy if you land hard. In all, happy flying!
