KhAI-5 Light Bomber/Recon [Remastered]
I've learned a lot in the past week and a half of returning to SimplePlanes, so I decided to revisit one of my favourite designs. Improvements include weight reduction, armament improvement, and even more cosmetic and stability fixes. Top speed is accurate to the real thing, around 220 mph at sea level with full load.
Armament:
1 cannon
1 rotatable turret w aiming cam (activate Group 1 to enable)
6 250lb bombs
Enjoy and leave a comment :)
History Lesson:
The Kharkiv KhAI-5 was a soviet-built monoplane designed in the mid 1930s. It went on to serve mainly as a reconnaissance plane and light bomber throughout the late 1930s and into the first stages of WWII. As losses mounted, the KhAI-5's role briefly shifted to night fighting to try to preserve the aircraft's numbers. The last variants of the KhAI-5 were withdrawn from service in 1943.
