Development
In 1941 Yermolayev developed a medium bomber, superior to the Pe-2, managing to partially replace it.
In February 1942 it made its first flight, reaching ~510 (loaded) at ~860 meters of altitude.
Being designed for medium altitude it could not carry out high-altitude operations, that is why it sought to have the highest bomb load and highest speed, a obvious decision.
It was eventually superseded by the Tu-2, as it was superior in every way.
Has surprisingly good energy retention, this thing has potential for a night fighter (I think).
