@JovianPat @Zkillerwolfe Yep, I've also noticed the corkscrew and missed ring. I can get the missed ring using the slow motion but it will be crazy testing - slowing plane for all rings and decrementing till found it. We know only that at 1850mph+ the engine gives a missed ring
@Typhlosion130 But I've got over 1600mph in ascending parts of the race with only one BFE300. Five is too much, unless we are throwing 4 of them against the opponent, and save the last one for reaching the final ring :D
The problem is that AI is rly simple as most of you stated. It just tries to fly in straight line from point A to point B in a simple "change-that-control-surface-angle" manner, which in dynamically unstable aircafts is not working properly. And of course there's a joke - it can't level properly a small model with low wing loading/proper weight distribution to go through the pyramid while a taller/wider unstable model goes at least 2x more successfully. Also, the second joke here is that the best TVC models often crashes in the pyramid :D
i'm not sure it flies. Testing on The Dragon and 5 planes from 700+ in my folder are somewhat AI stable. And the most interesting thing is that ONE ring (yeah, only one noticed) gives the 'missed' bug
@Alienbeef0421 Weird cause what I found that nosecone has bigger drag points than usual fuselage made to nosecone, and the best length is exactly 3.5 0o
Well, that's weird cause I've uploaded models while these two mods were enabled on the version before 1.5.3.3 ... Anyway thanks for the info but imho all enabled mods then should be automatically uploaded to devs for security checking
@Alienbeef0421 Stabilizing in KiNo's models is based on oscillate->destabilize->oscillate->stabilize infinite loop. Do yourself a favor and read some books for aerodynamics and theory of flight
Usually you have to test planes from both starting sides - left and right. I'm doing it only on left while I'm sure it is somewhat reliable. When I entered in SP, started to test 100 times but it became a huge time waster, so then I started to test incrementally - each new model version is tested only one time. So a screenshot shows only best time improvement from latest 10-to-15 versions starting from left side, not the reliability. For reliability you must test at least 100 times (ONE HUNDRED - each run is 1%) to have a start point for getting better diff approximation between each model (guaranteed best time w/o crashes of model A divided by model's 2 best) of the so called true delta Δ. THEN, after all tests for each model version for both starting sides, I get 1 of best 3 versions who have same average run time, and that one is picked based only on a number based on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy%E2%80%93maneuverability_theory which you must calculate alone (cause you forgot to use your brain)
This whole above means that results are not precise because of lack of enough test runs (at least 10x times more per model version per starting side PER tournament course)
Btw I have 4 or 5 candidates (my models) for this tourney and 2 of them have almost the same design with some minor improvements over the number of used parts, wing area and engine
Fast math:
131 Competitors, 2min30sec average course-time per competitor (note 3min is the limit)
Estimated time for watching the tournament: >5.5h or when the server dies
@AndrewGarrison Can you devs drop here the parsable variant of rules and/or algorithms for that so at least we can validate our creations. So noone will be disq because he or she cannot fix it due to impossibility to be on a PC/tablet? Or at least update the game with this functionality
Never underestimate the power of a stupid AIs in large groups
One run personal best 2:16 with one of my models which finished w/o fuel from ring #40, next run the model became a part of the terrain ...
Think found another bug in AI but still wondering to report it or not ... If fixed can reduce significantly the crashes
@HydroNeon I second that. Already thinking it' s a waste of time to participate when AI definitely doesn't work properly. One run it has an almost perfect control, the next one it's a disaster
@marcox43 No, reliable <1:00 is the goal
Anyone succeeded to drop under 0:55-57 on VTOL?
@JovianPat @Zkillerwolfe Yep, I've also noticed the corkscrew and missed ring. I can get the missed ring using the slow motion but it will be crazy testing - slowing plane for all rings and decrementing till found it. We know only that at 1850mph+ the engine gives a missed ring
Wow, this glider weights like an armored vehicle ...

2x BFE300 or 1x BFE300 - that's the question ...
@Typhlosion130 My top is 0:50 but with a modded engine (power x4, throttle x 1)
@Tully2001 NO! :}
Remember kids - no XML modding here xD
No forkin idea
Yep, most of us have planes that flutter and reach very high speeds. And most of us decided not to use them
Bad luck mate :\
No idea - I just start it and it flies
Typh, I heard also that there's an alien competitor with submission a flyin saucer which uses for a fuel the Al Bundy's old socks
Nope, it's a tournament
It is a nice idea to lower competitors' time with 2 seconds, right?
Dude, it crashed at the first turn

@Typhlosion130 Well, I tested with best (hense fastest and most reliable) models from jet tourneys and generally they are not - only one below 1:10
i'm not sure it flies. Testing on The Dragon and 5 planes from 700+ in my folder are somewhat AI stable. And the most interesting thing is that ONE ring (yeah, only one noticed) gives the 'missed' bug
Just joking - tbh AI sucks in each race :)
Dragon is the race where we'll see AI's inefficiency in its full glory
Unrealiable. At least it has more blades than fur on my cat
@AndrewGarrison There are 173 competitors - please, validate the submissions
Mine beats yours btw
@Alienbeef0421 Weird cause what I found that nosecone has bigger drag points than usual fuselage made to nosecone, and the best length is exactly 3.5 0o
Anyone who managed to make drag points below 30? I'm stuck on 31-34 :\
@Unstable It seems that the number of broken propelorz in this thread is too damn high
Like these?
Well, that's weird cause I've uploaded models while these two mods were enabled on the version before 1.5.3.3 ... Anyway thanks for the info but imho all enabled mods then should be automatically uploaded to devs for security checking
Well, I think I did it - ~99% reliable 2:12 with lowest possible number of T1000s :)
@Alienbeef0421 Stabilizing in KiNo's models is based on oscillate->destabilize->oscillate->stabilize infinite loop. Do yourself a favor and read some books for aerodynamics and theory of flight
IMPORTANT! Some pseude-science theory

@Alienbeef0421 TC8 but improved
It's not modded, right? From AI's perspective it's not reliable, crashed in the first try. Nice design, though
I'm joking math is not correct - most of viewers will get a seizure before the tourney ends
Mean ~6 hours and give additional 3 hours so most of us can safely return to planet Earth
Fast math:
131 Competitors, 2min30sec average course-time per competitor (note 3min is the limit)
Estimated time for watching the tournament: >5.5h or when the server dies
Yes, I pressed 9 instead of 5

Thanks!
If they aren't we'll see a nice drop in average flight speed here that will make my neighbour's turtle to look like Mach 3 capable :D
Always tested on high pysics
2:12, dude
meh
Never underestimate the power of a stupid AIs in large groups

Think found another bug in AI but still wondering to report it or not ... If fixed can reduce significantly the crashes
I can confirm that there are two or three planes in the database that do a consistent 2:11-2:12 without crashes
Whatever ... This plane sucks xD
Not bad, but for the tournament you need at least 1.5 Power:Weight ratio
@HydroNeon I second that. Already thinking it' s a waste of time to participate when AI definitely doesn't work properly. One run it has an almost perfect control, the next one it's a disaster
@Alienbeef0421 Not me, Zkillerwolfe and marcox43 wrote about 2:11
Anyway the AI is rly retarded and I refuse to continue designing the plane for today
Yep ... Like my contraptions
4xT3000 - 756-757mph and same time 2:19 compared to 6xT1000 ... Just meh
