practice and patience. and also what @F104Deathtrap said, taking apart good planes is really helpful especially if you put them back together or modify them some, that's how i figured out things
@ChiChiWerx yeah it's definitely unfortunate. i've tried recreating older styles of those air-to-air rockets, ones with preset detonating distances, like the ones the germans used to shoot down bombers during ww2.
pretty sure they're preset to detonate, anyway.
it's still pretty hard to aim at a big fat bomber with the Air to Ground thing though, for sure
@LieutenantSOT heck yeah, maybe i'll try to make a replica of the nieuport 16 - apparently it used them. or maybe i'll make a fictional plane, since i suck at replicas, and i'll add the french rockets to it instead
@WolfSpark well, if it's someone who's genuinely unaware you can tell them about the lack of mod support, but if they continue after then yeah they're probably the kind of person who needs to be banned from breathing
I have to admit my shame here, I haven't done as much testing of your damage models as I should, because it's super cool that you've done what you've done, and I want to see just how it works tbh
anyways, gonna try some of your stuff out soon, maybe later today, maybe tomorrow, but uh, if you wanna, then could you tag me in some of your personal favorites so I can try them out?
@ChrisPy my tiger gets one-shotted all the time, paint the IS-1 as the monster of tier 3 please i'm begging you i have such a god-awful time in my tiger tanks against russian tanks you don't even understand
this is a nice looking tank gun, is good and well made, i might be wrong but i think it's the gun and mantlet from the Panther F, which is a sucky version of the Panther, i suppose you chose the Panther F rather than the more iconic Tiger or Panzer IV because the gun doesn't have a muzzle brake?? i'd think it'd be difficult to model a muzzle brake so that's why i'm assuming as such
or maybe you just really like that version of the panther
@Flash0of0green yeah modern tank guns are smoothbore but this is definitely not a modern tank gun, it's a WW2 era tank gun as indicative of the rifled nature and the lack of, as you said, a bore evacuator, and also because it's from a panther F
my favorite thing here, is that even though you used wheels instead of tracks, you can still consider that to be accurate since the BT series of tanks could be stripped of their tracks to be driven on their roadwheels, you could shove a steering wheel into the driver compartment to drive it like that
I understand the reasoning for having rules, but personally the 3k points limit seems like arbitrary, and fairly useless, gatekeeping. maybe i'm just biased because i'm only at 2.3k points but it seems unfair to try and get a plane removed just because it was made by someone with, say, 1k points, and who used the cockpit to make a plane, and had credited you in the description, linked the cockpit, and had already made planes before on his account in following the second rule.
speaking of which i also think the second rule is a bit arbitrary, but yknow, it's perfectly fair, since if you're going to make a plane with this, surely you've already made planes before, y'know? but the 3k points limit seems like it's just gatekeeping, and i severely doubt that a moderator would observe that part of the rules for using this. credit is due where credit is due, and i think anyone using this NEEDS to credit you for it, but they shouldn't have to have their build removed because they had less than 3k points
all in all i just think these security measures are a bit much, a bit useless, and a bit offensive, but i do also think this is a very nicely made cockpit, and i might use it whether or not i have 3k points, just because i really need to make another plane and a pre-made cockpit might help me with making one from scratch.
WOW 2 months and you're at a point that took me 2 years, sir i need advice on how to be as successful as you
