@Wibbley Thanks. Like you I watched loads of bird videos (cant remember which ones). I noticed that there were different flap styles depending on the bird. When I do my next bird I'm going to try to develop different flap styles for take off and landing..... sometime. I could never make the wings fold nicely though, so well done! Impressed.
Really good wing folding action. How did you work it out? I've got some tricks for bird flying and am happy to share. One tip is the tail. I found it's good to move the tail to balance the downward stroke of the wings.
The Oculus quest 2 headset needs you to log into facebook to use it. The continuous tracking cameras on it mean that you are giving facebook a continuous feed of your surroundings every time you use it. I know there is no such thing as privacy any more but geez they could at least pretend.
I love builds like these. Yeah, I'm into the code side of it. I also think it looks great. Using a minimum number of the standard parts to form a cohesive overall look is a special skill dude. Respect!
Touch controller support.
The the Unity dev module supports it but there will need to be a "touchable" flag in the plane designer. OK. There are quite a few other complications in it, but there are loads of great flight sims out there and touch support will make SPVR beyond amazing. The implications....
Nice build (as usual from you). interesting story behind this plane. It was the first passenger jet liner but those square windows created a structural weakness.
Just love all these Knights of Sidonia builds. Like the anime too, but it lost me during season 2's tentacle violation scene. What is it with that anyway?
Praise be! I thought for a sec that You had noticed just how many times I access that page every week and had blocked my IP because of my audacity. Or as I have leant from your guide to say it in FT...
rate(AngleOfAttack)/smooth(Time,0.1)> Latitude?0:1
Glad that's not the case.
Hey thanks for the offer. I'm working on a different build atm, but I'll give it another go and get it somewhat in shape before I pass it along. Yes, @winterro is totally awesome. Somewhat my favorite creator.
I know the praise is belated, but this is a masterpiece. Not just geeking out over being a badass Star Wars fighter, but the controls, the balance, the funky trees the part count!
Wow you marked my first one within a few minutes of uploading. (The Wrong one), which I deleted. Sorry. could you possible repost my score? My only defense is insanity.
@Thunderhawk That's it. Thanks! So when judging my entry, please knock your monitor off the desk it seems to fix it. (Jokes). Actually Don't! it made me upload the wrong file. Now its the right one.
I love flapping builds so I am very excited about seeing what people make for this this challenge. I'd like to build a new bird based around my cybird for this if I have the time, but I just wanted to share some funky trees code that some people may like to use. In my builds I use this one my hinges for up and down flapping motions that uses no fuel.
sin( smooth(Time,smooth(Throttle,1)) * 90)
More throttle = faster flapping
also you can change 90 up to about 300 for even faster flapping.
hope it helps.
Yo snow,
thanks for the guide, its been great and I'm working with the time functions to hopefully make something worthy of posting soon. I really struggled to get a reliable PID controller working, found it very skittish but I have a somewhat stable hover-jet height controlled by the trim lever and its pretty cool once it stabilizes its absolutely rock solid. I'm newish to SP so I'm probably missing some basics. Like, is it better to clamp an input or limit the range though min max or degrees of rotation? Or is it like, "whatever works for that project". Also there doesn't see, to be any FT way to store a variable. One last one, can you set a state from FT like Activate1 or LandingGear? Hope I'm not being too big a pest.
@JuanShot2Go
Really!! Is there documentation?
I saw the update https://www.simpleplanes.com/Forums/View/1042680/Funky-Trees
But no mention of it there.

Wow. That is Juan excellent file conversion. I didn't even know that it was possible. Can it do obj, dxf or stl files? That would be fantastic.
I can't believe I only just noticed this one! Been playing squadrons so this Y wing hits the spot.

+1Is this ship a Littoral vessel? Then it could be a Littoral literal U boat.
+1Very very very cool.
@Wibbley The rotors were joined to each other. Also added come code to the gyro. I'll delete this post after you repost your bird, if you prefer.

Gadzooks that thing can gallop! I'm glad real crocks cant run that fast.
Your build is appreciated. Thanks.
+1Very nice.

Amazing Detail.
Wow! Thanks! I am stoked. Considering all the amazing things that get created here it gave me a real thrill.
+1This is a fabulous bird! Very well balanced and detailed. (Also the Peregrine is my personal fav bird).
Nice! I once tried building a dragon but didn't have much luck with the flight characteristics.

As always, winteroo, I really love your builds.
I like yours. Juan is a good name to build on. I also like Juanforall and juanflewoverthecookoosnest. :)

+1Nearly......finished...Just (whack) getting the (whack) birdy to fly straight..(Whack). No, hitting the computer doesn't work.
+1@IceCraft To show how trigonometry can be beautiful.

This is a lovely piece of design/engineering. I am inspired.... and afraid.
+1I love the glow in the fire compartment
Thanks for the motorcycle. I love the way it flexes.
+1You are the master of fast feet and fantastic flapping creations.
Ah, Just what I needed. Many thanks
Being able to store a variable would be cool.
+1Utterly superb.
Boing hehe Boing
I like it.

Thanks for the memories. I also loved that game.
Great model. Love your work. I'm listening to "The Real Folk Blues" and flying this around.
or rather. I would if I had 30?
I had to upvote, because its just too bent.
Wow. What a fabulous creation. Kudos to you. I’d love to be able to make something like this.
+3Great plane! Thanks.
PID Controller? Sound of Mind Exploding. Very cool.
@spefyjerbf THANK YOU!!

+1Really clever!
