You should definitely not judge a book by its cover. Most SP players think that simplerockets 2 is a true space simulator. But its not.
Here are some cool plane related features that we literally want in SP.
I play simplerockets2 its way more better in terms of parts and customization than simpleplanes. Some cool planes features.
- Highly detailed engine you can tweak its inlet style, cover style, compressor length thrust ratio and more. The best thing about the engines that they have reverse thrust and afterburners also.
- Lights are also detailed you can set its intensity (brightness). Beacon lights are just amazing you can enter how many seconds it will blink.
- Fuselage have many different styles and textures.
- In built cockpit with inside views.
- Paint has emission option for lights.
- No need of custom landing gear you can tweak its size retraction speed, retraction angle, vertical offset.
- highly customizable wing with options for control surface deflection speed and angle.
- Seats for planes and rockets.
- There is an astronaut which is typically a human you can jump, play, drive, or just do anything you can also name it. So no need for fuselage passengers.
Dummy for testing how will a human survive.
Gauges and interactive screens that can show you map and all details and it also features a calculator!
- Easy to use built programming like scratch you can use it to make autopilot.
- Motor for continuous rotation.
- In built fine tuner easy to use gizmo.
- Tinker panel or overload.
- Custom screenshot option
- Highly detailed bases in the planet with runway, ATC tower, hangar, launch pads and water harbour.
- Ship and 🚢? lovers don't be sad you can make water vessels also including submarines.
You can go underwater 💦🌊
Other features
Planet studio is the most known feature of this game you can create your own bases, planets or even your own solar system.
these are some funny planets.
Sus planet
- sandbox upload is a feature where you can upload your own world, everyone can see how much you have explored and achieved in the game.
So finally simplerockets2 features all things you need for a complete plane and some other features. And it features all things we are demanding for simpleplanes. so better switch to simplerockets 2 dont wait for updates. Dont think if the game's name is related to rockets so it is all about rockets it also focuses on planes..
Just take a look.
In my opinion, Juno is fantastic, with much possibility for flying stuff and doing weird s* in space. Its builder has its own charm and flexibility and advantages as well. On the other hand, SP, it's builder system and even its bugs are more well suited to things like building tanks (which I love) or insanely detailed craft. On Juno, the graphics are part of the game, in SP, we build the graphics. Tbh, SP is better suited to creating eye pleasing stuff while Juno is better for flying things.
But Now Its Named Juno: The New Origin....... Me After Read This:😐😐😐
It's sounds like SR2 is going to every direction, But I love SimplePlane community and mainly focus on Airplanes. I suggest SP should have some cool updates on Langing gear and wings
@Captainboeing yes
yes but g o o d p r o p e l l e r
@Lms3912 yes this post is a little bit outdated
@Captainboeing just because one game has better physics doesn’t mean it’s better than the other game
I have both of the games but simple planes is good and simple rockets is good but because of the new update I would say that simple planes is becoming better than simple rockets
@Archanis2ElectricBoogaloo simple aeronautics is better
Too broke for now
@Captainboeing i used to play it quite often but i like SP more as a plane building game and KSP is better with rocket stuff
@MrGreen do you play simplerockets 2?
I hate Vizzy. Just make some custom made programming language
@Rsouissi Just like i told they have not made SP2 because they have already implemented features of SP2 in SR2
@Captainboeing hope they are making something new like SP2
@LieutenantSOT they will add the propeller engine soon
@LieutenantSOT Yes you can make them by using wings and electric motor
But overall, now I really want that game 😂
The only thing that game is missing that I wish it had would be propeller engines
SR2 is much better than SP, not only in potential build quality (I’ve seen some very good builds, very much at or even above the levels we see in SP), but also game performance and visuals. I’ve always wanted to transition to SR2, but the only thing stopping me has been the effort it would take to re learn how to build. That, and the different communities, are the main reasons why SR2 did not become the SP2, even though it pretty much is.
@soldier289 the child's name:
Simple Planes n' Rockets
@Dathcha Everyone in both games demand for mod support. And begging for multiplayer like we do in this game.
@Dathcha Yes its a bit controversial in both SP and Sr2 because the latest version of unity don't support for android and google dont allows to do that.
There are no weapons in sr2. And if you say “you can get a weapon mod”. No I can’t. Because Apple
@soldier289 :0 :)
Yes, I have a mobile version of SR2, but I regret why I can't operate like propellers, weapons, or SP every time I play the game. SR has had a very cool runway with a map update the other day. I think SP and SR should get married.
@Rsouissi it as 7 months since the last SP update. I hardly think the Devs have made something for us and if they are making something also you should see that SP is 6 years old. So i dont think they will even focus on SP.
is there any updates for simpleplanes in future?
They'd need to revamp SP to at least a good level to pair good with SR. Though it would be very tedious, it might give them a boost if it ends well.
I can't stand the fact that the minimum nudge increment is 0.01 (way too big) and there's no top view on the blueprint things, parts can only have 1 connection per connection, and the designer menus have too many menus and bits (Would be nice if more stuff was in 1 place or more things could be done at once).
.
As someone who likes to build highly accurate, highly detailed, small, finicky stuff, SP is just 10,000 times better. SR2 is good if you want to make a fictional craft that's moderately detailed quickly, but is garbage when it comes to making small replica stuff with high detail. Try making this in SR2!
(There is that 747, but even though it's ridiculously detailed, even that isn't a very accurate replica...)
although yeah, everyone here has their own opinions, so here's mine i guess (keep in mind this is biased lol):
generally speaking, both are great building and flying games, although SP has freely apply-able Overload (XML tool) which lets you do all sorts of crazy stuff, which SR2's Tinker Panel struggles to keep up with, although i get it's for balancing reasons and stuff.
as said by some people below (and yeah, i agree too), the controls in SR2 are quite hard to master, but then again it's probably because of being used to SP, as SR2 is still somewhat new.
SP doesn't have the fancy procedural parts that SR2 has, the closest non-XML things are probably the cannon and the fuselage, the latter of which SR2 already adapted and used.
don't even mention that everything is unlocked from the start in both, which allows you to enhance your creativity (if you haven't lost it like me, that is).
both are great games imo, and i think they're 100% worth the price, it's up to one's decision to which they want to use, but if you have the money, get both and enjoy 200% of Jundroo building games.
what would really be needed is the ability to transfer our SP stuff to SR2, but of course, that would take a heck ton of work to do, so i doubt that would ever be possible.
@Mostly Yes UGC will be a little smaller because it is a new game around 2 to 3 years old its not 6 years old like SP. And about reshade, the mod will come soon.
Heyyy my plane is there. SR is much better for jets/rockets and SP is better for planes in general. imho, SR2 is objectively better than SP in a lot of ways.
-Consistent building mechanics, you don't have to work around bugs nearly as much as you do in SP (if you're doing complex builds)
-Better building tools (Doesn't just use sliders, uses things like a sphere and slider similar to KSP, making rotating and nudging parts infinitely easier)
-way WAY better physics engine. There are plenty of bugs in the SP physics engine, but keep in mind SPs physics engine is based off of teaching the basics of physics during flight. 2015 SP physics weren't built to support 2021 era build.
-More realistic physics based on altitude. In SP it exists, I guess, but it's not as realistic as SR2.
The game performance on SR2 makes SP look like baby's first simulator (which, let's be honest, it kind of is.) You can run 1000+ parts without a frame drop in SR2, try the same thing in SP and you can tell the difference.
I could argue that the graphics are better in SR2, but honestly you could get the some better effects in SP with reshade and UGC that doesn't take up that much extra energy.
SP has weapons and a lot more UGC than SR2, though. The only thing keeping SR2 from being a no-brainer pick for a lot of people is the difference in the community - It's night and day. One isn't worse than the other, they're just different environments and different climates in terms of building technique, handing down knowledge, community interaction, etc. I know SP players for ex. Vincent - who absolutely hate how building works in SR2. Which is fair, because the building menu has a lot more interfaces than SP. it's a lot less simple and a lot more hectic coming from a long-time SP player. If you adapt and begin to learn/master the SR2 building mechanics, you'll learn to love it. I hated it at first, but I started building things faster than I ever could in SP. It really reignited the love I had for jundroo games because of how much quicker that process is. I can shoot builds out from where the sun don't shine in a quarter of the time it takes in SP.
just learn how to use SP lol
SR2 website is same as SP but with some other new pages from my opinion the website is easy to use.
Plus you can learn how to build and other things in the in-game tutorial.
@Sm10684 It is same like SP but its a bit diefferent
@DarDragon There is a mod for weapons
Um ok.
SR2 has no weapons :(
Dude shut up, you just make me can't hold the urge to say "where is SP update" to Andrew
We know SR2 is better (part wise anyway), and frankly, we don't care.
Also, the controls in SR2 are god awful, I can never get used to it
no, the building interface is horrific.
Most of the points you made can still be done in SP. such as the autopilot, customizable engines, gauges, and cockpits, it just takes more work and a lot of work arounds. Things like lights and pilots simulating damage is not possible but we do have humanoid walkers.
Obviously the graphics are different but not much you can do there.
You should use a typewriter to compare sp and sr2
Yes I agree with you and I have SR2 but heres my PERSONAL opinion: While SR2 was a hell of a lot more features than SP, that also makes it more complicated and can be Intimidating for newer players. For me in particular, I find SP easier to use and right now SP suits my needs for making planes already. Again this is just my personal opinion.
