AG-1 - Dorsal machine gun (unknown what type)
History:
Information on this escort fighter is extremely scarce as it is one of Shavrov's unrealized projects. The most info I could find was from www.ecured.cu which says, "The aeronautical constructor Vadim Shavrov designed a large number of projects, mainly hydro-acoustic and amphibious, which for different reasons did not surpass the drawing board." Further down the chart was a little bit of specs on this airplane. It said, along with the date of 1938, "Two-seater hunt with M-34FRNT engine of 1,017 hp. Spread: 13.0 m. Length: 10.5 m." The drawing suggests that the two machine guns were .30 cal ShKAS, although this could be incorrect. In the rear of the short "glasshouse" canopy was a flexible gun of either another ShKAS, or a .50 cal UBT machine gun. The main gears are very similar in construction to the ones on Cheranovsky's BICh-21 race flying wing only larger, which concludes the fact that they too retracted backwards under pneumatic pressure. The rear fuselage was protected by a simple sprung tail skid. Nothing became of the project.
