By the time the Air Defense Forces received the Scorpion-Atari, it was hardly the same aircraft that disappeared from service in the 90's. Initially conceived for the Air Training Corps' advanced trainer requirement, the Scorpion-Atari was a dedicated forward air control and counter-insurgency aircraft. The A-108 bore the advancements of its sister Atla trainer, endurance improvements, increased payload capacity and variety, and Reflex's Atari total fire control system. This twin-engine, V-tail COIN platform represented the ADF's shift from high-tech standoff doctrine to down ‘n dirty in close support of army and security forces in conflict regions.
