PLANESPOTTING CHALLENGE! result

For those out of the know, I've hosted a challenge of planespotting in my recent map mod, and people will then identify the ten new planes in the screenshots of the map mod for a build request and with enough correct answers, any livery request too.

The score will be a total of ten, v means correct, x means wrong. some wrong answers are exempted because of it being too close or obstructed to view in hindsight. This is the most generous score I could offer.

  • x Tu114 (not part of the ten new planes)
  • v DC-8 (Exempted: nacelle and fuselage obstructed from view)
  • x A340-500/600 (-500/600 does not exist)
  • x Il-96-400
  • v Tu144 (Exempted: key identifiers obstructed from view)
  • v 2707 (Exempted: key identifiers obstructed from view)
  • v 707/720 (Exempted: key identifiers obstructed from view)
  • v 727-200
  • v Tu154M
  • v MD-12 (Exempted: version was only proposal with no clear identifiers)

Total score: 7/10

Congratulations, @SyntheticL, for closely identifying the ten planes, albeit only one off for a livery request. Here is your build request!

As much as I hoped for more people to have participated, only two did, and one passed over the 50% threshold, superficially, its a disaster of execution, but deeper is an absolute gold mine of information, and newer ideas that may or may not work in the next challenge, despite it's poor planning, it was fun and hopefully I could form another form of challenge in the future.

Now performance wise, it is more realistic than the 757-300 RB211 Icelandair, more gradual acceleration, and actual flap physics.

The glass was more of an experiment, and maybe this will be the last time I tinker with glass because frankly, its hard to see out of, and doesn't really make the interior look dark from the outside.

Livery wise, since the score is below 9/10, I cannot apply the livery which they have requested; 'Chinese Air Force (PLAAF) Transporter livery like on Y-20s'. But I didn't want it to be something already existing, and also most of the preexisting 757 liveries I have already allocated for other future projects, so the Boeing Soyuz that I am, instead painted a brand spanking new livery based from @SyntheticL's work, notably their world building of the country named Nicro, though unfortunately, the livery planning took quite a brain storm session and was actually planned to be released last week but it has to be this week to finalise the livery design.

@SytheticL, if you are reading this post in depth, I'm sorry I couldn't apply the livery you have requested, but hopefully this will suffice.

As I have said, the orange plane will mark the end of the challenge, and in the meantime after, I'll resume my studies, external affairs, and projects that may or may not relate to Simpleplanes.
