At 4:45 in the morning, 80 years ago, a critical decision was made. It would change the world forever.
A German cruiser Schleswig-Holstein, staying in the Harbor of Free city of Danzig, opened fire on Polish units in Westerplatte. The Second World War has begun. A war that would bring milions of deaths and change the entire world, forever.

Well even if Hitler doesn't invade Russia, Germany would still not win WW2

Also if WW2 didn't happen, the cold war would have ended differently
@Jetliner101 Very likely. Take the atomic bombings (as controversial as they are). They caused a total combined death count of 129,000-226,000 deaths. But the other plan was a full scale invasion of the Japanese mainland. And while it didn’t happen, the projected casualty count, for U.S. soldiers alone, was in the millions. It was also believed that the whole Japanese populous would simply fight to the death, as their culture looked down upon surrendering so terribly that you were a shame to your whole family and village if you surrendered, so that would also leave civilian casualties high, if the whole populous isn’t wiped out by their mentality.

TL;DR, War causes some crazy shit to be made, but it arguably makes it shorter.
