So, I woke up, as I do any other day, and a couple hours later, I hear this massive roar of jets. I didn’t see what it was, so I just assumed it was some sort of airliner, since I live sort of close to my airport. Anyways, a few hours later, I go to work, and I hear that roar again. I looked out of my car, and only got a glimpse of what I thought was a WWII aircraft (straight wings, I thought maybe a Corsair, but something was off, since it was a jet). I parked at my place of work, and I looked around, only to find
TWO A-10s practicing formation maneuvers!
Safe to say that made my day. I knew they were from Michigan wing, because Illinois doesn’t have any A-10s, and my dad got buzzed by one earlier last year.
I live about 66 miles from Wright Paterson AFB and see air force jets all the time. Love it
@Stormfur nope, central IL. Your boys come down every once in a while to practice tho.
Every once and a while A-10s go over my house
Btw anyone else here from Michigan?just asking
I know. And I was in 3rd grade@Thelegitpilot13
@Jerba that is awesome.
I once got to see air force 1 at ohare, and on a field trip to Chicago, our bus got to see the presidential motorcade on the other side of the highway.@Thelegitpilot13
@Destroyerz117 nope, no sexy BRRRRRRRT (tho my dad is part middle eastern lol). It was practicing landings and t/os.
@LockheedLover that’s awesome!
@Jerba Same here.I live near Langley AFB,MAAB Little creek,NAS Oceana, And NS Norfolk.Ahh the lovely sounds.Ospreys, Chinooks, Sea knights, F-35s and F/A-18s every couple of minutes.So.F*cking.lovely
@Thelegitpilot13 I saw the same thing. Out by Langley AFB yesterday
@Aeromen I know that feeling. I live next to a few airports but I never see anything but some airliners at their cruise alt.
when it's a plane famous for going BRRRT
that makes me think of something else entirely
The comment below mine is Aeromen's last words...
I Have Always Seeing Some C-130 Practicing Parachuting Paratrooper In The Far Side Of Bandung City, It Was Back In My 3th Grade That Ive Seen Those Clearly Even Though Its Very² Far From My School, And In Junior Highschool I Sometimes Hear Or Even See A Helicopter Flying Low Above My School
@Jerba I used to watch Pres. Obama fly over my house on his way to Chicago. That was a fun time!
We have a base generally close to our house, (it’s not that close, but it’s kinda close), and sometimes (very rare) you can get a flyover by a (in the list of things that have flown over my house) Blackhawks, one or two chinkhooks, and one little bird style helicopter when I was at school. (They are kinda farther up but still VERY loud. You can hear them before you spot them. Also, they don’t fly in a formation, just single.
@CrashFighter05 we get C-130s too (I have an air nat guard base about an hour away)
@TheXDimension32 that sounds awesome!
@Randomdoggo well, I don’t live in the desert (for better and for worse, mainly better tho), so I won’t experience that in the coming years.
I’m real close to a military base and had a c-17 fly 500’ over me
I get bush planes. Sometimes the occasional C-130 ( I think) and sometimes 737s flying to the local regional airport.
