What are "Funky Trees"?

10.5k Brencool35  4.8 years ago

I see so many things that have to do with these so called "funky trees", and I'll be honest, I don't know what they mean. I know they have something to do with mathmatics, but I'm not sure. Can someone help?

@EternalDarkness Well, some dude made an auto-aiming CIWS gun with FT.

Is there a way I can make a AI thing to automatically destroy snow without me

@Ismat open the part with Overload, use dropdown thingy to select its input, and replace current input with the one you want.

@EternalDarkness where to write those inputs in xml?? Or where??

@Brencool35 no, cannon doesn't support inputs.

@EternalDarkness With funky trees, could you make cannons fire with FireGuns?

@TheMachinist in Overload window, input field.

I also have literally no clue what they do, even after experimenting with a couple of them.

@EternalDarkness That's really cool, I might try to do it when I master my building technique more, thanks!

@Brencool35 not really a lead indicator, as you cannot input target properties. A sight that would compensate for movement of the plane is possible though. One good input I got from my friend reduces turning angle of a wheel as the speed increases, preventing user from flipping the build over. Another limits horsepower on level terrain and adds power on climbs, allowing for an off-road vehicle with realistic acceleration.

@EternalDarkness What kind of things can they be used for? I've always dreamed of making a sight for a cockpit that has a leading indicator, could it do something like that?

@Brencool35 funky trees aren't necessary for building, but they can greatly enhance performance of a build. I suggest trying to master at least a few simple ones like clamp and adding up inputs. Also, get a friend who is very good with funky trees. I'm pretty bad at figuring out complex trees, so a friend often helps me out.

@EternalDarkness Thanks, but I think I'll just stick with the traditionals now Haha

Funky Trees allow you to combine multiple inputs along with mathematical functions in inlut fields of rotators and other moving bits. I suggest checking WNP78's post for better explanation.

But I thought it had to do with actual trees

    It’s math.

Oh, I thought the trees were funky, but I didn’t see a difference lol
