I’ve been putting up with this for 5 and a half years and I think this should change. Irl the only vehicle that blows up when it hits something is a Ford Pinto, and even that doesn’t go flying at 3 million miles an hour when it blows up.
In real life, stuff breaks and bends, not inflict an explosion so huge it could wipe out the entirety of Nagasaki for the second time.
Also, planes these days have way more detail and parts than they used to. Every time I have a prop strike in my Cessna 180 I think my computer is going to get ideas.
The only people who still find explosions amusing are 7 year olds who have watched frozen 37 times and like white marshmallows but not pink ones. For the rest of us, it’s just annoying piece of lag that is completely frustrating.
The fact that your plane has a nuclear explosion whenever you hit something or tap your prop on the ground in SP is obsolete and infuriating.

TIL that I'm 7 yrs old
I once got sent to infinity speed. I boldly went where some cockpits have gone before.
i broke my landing gear once AND IT EXPLODED AND THE PLANE DECIDED TO JUST EVAPORATE
Definitely, im sick of my steam corvette flipping to one side when going to another location, not even an explosion and it does that freaky stuff, would be cool if we have limited soft body physics like Beam.NG but now that i think about it i presume it would be better if we just atleast have a bit of soft body so that parts atleast can bend, awh crap android user crying in the background
What if the surfaces were already subdivided so that when they get hit by a bullet, holes appear, when they scrape on the ground, the texture changes, etc.? It would fall off if it sustained too much damage
Can’t you do it so props and parts bend and break when they get damaged? And bullet holes would be cool@AndrewGarrison
oh wow Andrew's here!
One of the main reasons we explode a part is to hide its disappearance. It's a magic trick, but I can certainly see how it would be annoying.
I think that's a lil too much work on such a company like jundroo...
But because the physics is simple, we can play our 1000+ parts build. If complex physics are to be implemented, then we need to have the tools to build planes with complex shapes and functions using 20 parts or less. This is how other flight sims are coded so that they don't nuke our computer. Take Il-2 BoS for example - the crashes are beautiful to look at, but it is obvious that the planes themselves are comprised of few large sections.
Thats part of the reason I dont do many Propeller palnes.
ok finaly someone said this, I love SP but I like to crash planes or damage them to see if they still fly, I do that in war thunder on trees and the only way to do that is using slow mo (that doesnt work well) or doing it in the designer.
This forum post is ranty, I know, but it would be really amazing if our planes weren’t made of high explosive in the next update of Jundroo games. :) @AndrewGarrison
This is THE bane of my existence when working with high torque piston engines. A part gets too much stress, and suddenly wow, I’m in orbit. You can’t even find out what went wrong, the damage should work on a system of deformity, not boom.

That's the soul reason why I'm upvoting. ≧∇≦
Flat earthers hate him!
Scientist don't want YOU to know these 10 AMAZING tricks to get into orbit!
this post needs more attention
I was building my newest tank which was supposed to have a gyroscopic auto-correcting turret using FT. But every time I flip over the whole tank exploded, so i removed the gyroscopic barrel. I was left with just the turret. This time, every time I teleported to a locatoon which is not facing north, the turret would spin so fast it explodes. So i was left with a normal turret. I hate explosions.

I love that sentence, and I mean, explosions are sometimes fun but yeah I agree a prop shouldn't commit ww2 end
Ahh so that explains why the minimum mass of parts is 11 lbs @Starbound

I kinda like some of the physics, I think scratch marks for light damage on a part would be nice, maybe some holes. But that may end up looking a bit meh. And honestly I love doing trench run and catching a single bit of fuselage and watching half my plane fall off (sarcasm)
This sh_t right here (👇) made my plane go nuclear
Can confirm, every part in SP actually contains a couple grams of high explosive.
