With the recent "Maywar Sighting" I decided to use some Unity asset extraction software. I unpacked the 1.10.103.0 beta resources.assets
file and opened the result in Unity.
No tank, as expected. However, here are some findings (may continue to update):
- More map locations. New meshes suggest the addition of more locations, but no new terrain was present in the files.
- Improvements to existing map locations (maybe). New map detail objects and textures.
- Several new part meshes, including two(?) bombs. However, the DesignerParts.xml
file doesn't appear to show any new parts.
- Other heavily requested items.
- Disgusting file naming system (or lack thereof). But it's possible that the extraction software just doesn't retain folder information.
Details of unused items:
- City meshes. Combined buildings mesh, car and trailers meshes, airport mesh "airport city". Possibly some associated textures.
- Second airport mesh.
- Trees and rocks.
- Runway textures with numbering. Tire marks?
- Two bomb meshes "bomb small" and "grand slam".
- Boat propeller and associated blade meshes.
- Wing light mesh. It's possibly a scrapped part.
- Minimap UI sprites and model. The styling clashes with other UI.
- Lots of unidentifiable objects that aren't familiar.
(You can extract the files yourself if you wish)
Textures shown below should be treated as placeholders. Most textures in the extracted files don't work.
There's probably more things to expect from the 1.10 beta. It probably won't be released very soon(tm). Or it might just be old unused items
Question for devs: Is it acceptable to use extracted meshes for SP mods and only SP mods, or are we limited to those available in the example mod files? For example, some destroyer pieces.
@1918 DM on twitter, I'll delete the folder in a few days if I remember to
I tried to install uTinyRipper as you told me, but it didn't work because it was a Windows-only tool.
If it's not too much trouble, can I ask you to extract the texture data for me?
This is a very time-consuming task, so if you can't do it, please ignore this message.
@hpgbproductions
thanks@hpgbproductions
@1918 sorry for late reply
I use uTinyRipper to extract unity assets from a very large file in the game files
You may need to change the file extension to extract it
Extracted files are of type
.asset
which can be opened in unity editor, haven't checked if you can just change the file type and open itI'm sorry for the abruptness.
I just wanted to comment to ask one question when I saw this forum page.
I am creating a Plugin mod that extends Wright Airport.
In this case, I was able to use in-game objects from mod tools, but I couldn't find any textures.
From this page, I see that you were able to extract textures from the game data, so I'd like to know how you did it.
As it stands, my mod looks like this.

epic this will be helpful

@Qwertyuiop88 @metaphysicalgnome added pics
I really wish they added the extra buildings in Wright North
@hpgbproductions ey b0ss gibe de pics pls

@WNP78 oooof (there's a chance some unused content will be added right?)
I'll add the details lol, I was hiding them in case this would be delet

@SnoWFLakE0s probably bandit and wright
@WrongFlyer
.
Those are old names for some of the airports. Forgot which they correspond to, but early SP airports where named differently.

Lot's of things go in and out in the development cycle. Originally actual scripting support was envisioned, but due to issues FT was implemented instead, for example.
@WNP78 If this stuff is very old, why hasn't it been released? or was it considered outdated and replaced with other stuff?
Not really sure what you're looking at but of course the "structure" is a mess because you're using an asset extractor. Which doesn't tell you whether something is new or not. I think pretty much all the "new" stuff you're on about is very very old.
Also, what do you mean by "...Other heavily requested items." Interesting...
A while back, I found two new locations in the SP Unity files called PipleyTarpley Runway and Dune Buggy Garage.
neat!
