@PolyIsGone I became a mod when the site needed a new mod. Some of the old moderators went inactive, and a replacement was needed. A few of my friends were already moderators so they suggested me.

Yes, when a user becomes a moderator, he is immediately granted membership in SPMC. However, I was in SPMC long before I became a moderator, and even long before SPMC became SPMC. I renamed the group, originally as a joke as most of its members were high ranking users, and came up with most of its current rules. SPMC is actually the oldest SimplePlanes group, and has originally existed on Google Hangouts.
