These are some Chinese aircraft I can say with relative certainty you've never heard about. From what I've seen here, they're kind of underrated. Many were technological breakthroughs in their time. A good example is the J-7. When reverse-engineering a MiG-21 with limited technical documents, the Chengdu engineers managed to fix 249 inherent problems with the MiG-21, and make it more maneuverable with a lower wing loading. Or the J-12, the first indigenous fighter aircraft from China. It was designed as one of the first "light fighters", a class of aircraft that the F-5 falls under. It was only inhibited by the limited avionics technology of the time, and was one of the first aircraft to have a honeycomb structure. Politics aside, I think Chinese aircraft don't get the credit they deserve. They're too often written off as knock offs or cheaply produced, low budget aircraft. This is also kind of a teaser, I'll let you guess which one I'm making hehe.

@TurtlesThatFly Oh rip
@asteroidbook345 It only flew once, and crashed mid flight though :(
No one knows why it crashed either
@TurtlesThatFly It's very cool looking and apparently only 2 were built
@asteroidbook345 Personally the Chu XP-1 is my favorite. Their mix match-esque designs are something I really appreciate.
@Vincent_ White Russian is Belarus
@TurtlesThatFly Bruh some of those are so cool
@asteroidbook345 yeah thats true
@Infinite17 Not the PL-9 or Y-10
They all look the same as the old Russian fighters
@PapaKernels lol yeah it's a CJ-7
@TurtlesThatFly lol
@ChrisPy yeah possibly.
I see AVIC's sign
Wait until you see what 30s-50s china came up with :)
White Russian.
At first glance, like a super quick glance, the second to last on looked like a t-6. I know it's far from it but when I first saw it, it looked like a t-6
So not rlly underrated
Ik these weren't copies I’m saying a good percentage of Chinese aircraft are foreign designs which have been reversed engineered or licensed@asteroidbook345
@SyntheticL It may be, but the JL-9 looks cooler
@asteroidbook345 I think L-15 is the better trainer actrually. *yawns i really need to sleep now
@SyntheticL Yeah. The Hongdu-Yakovlev CJ-7 (the little prop trainer) is a joint collaboration with Russia, and the Guizhou FTC-2000G (JL-9G) is a trainer based off the JL-9, which was just a J-7 with a double cockpit and side intakes. the JL-9G is an almost complete redesign though, and it's meant to be fully carrier capable.
@asteroidbook345 Well
J-5: Licensed Mig-17
J-6: Licensed Mig-19
J-7: Kinda Reverse Engineered Mig-21F-13 Soviets gived us a part of blueprints. Yes is yes and no is no.
J-8I: Self design
J-8II: J-8I Mod
J-9: Prototype design
J-10: Self design Don't mention about lavi. They are two different things.
J-11A: Licensed Su-27SK
J-11B: Reverse engineered, avionics and engines major remasterd
J-11D: Prototype
J-12: Bruh.
J-15: Mix based on J-11BH and T-10K3
J-16: Mod J-11BS
J-20: Self design
FBC-1 (JH-7) Self design.
FC-1 (JF-17) Design with Pakistan.
FC-31 Designed by CAIC Shenyang without government intrests.
Now I am going to sleep. Good night.
@SyntheticL Yeah those are, like the J-7. Even so, they did improve the design of a lot of the planes they reverse engineered.
@SyntheticL I could yes
@asteroidbook345 edited. Look again
