Yes, I know there's a mod out there for Tracks, and it's great that we have skilled Modder's in our community, but some mobile devices don't allow mods, also, there are some limits on what shape a tank can be, but I have an idea on how tank tracks could be added to the existing game.
A new part could be added to the parts list, like a new wheel, except it could act like a node as well. When two nodes are connected in its part setting, tank tracks will run to each node. Similar to how we link a wheel to an engine, except now we are linking a wheel to another wheel.
Visually it can be a tank track, but it doesn't have to have any physics on the actual track itself, all the physics could be in just the wheel nodes and their contact with the ground so there would be not need to change the physics around. The tracks are mainly for show, I mean we're already do it by stacking a thousand flattened wheel parts together to create the illusion.
On a plus side this could improve the performance of models, and the game. In addition it could be easily implemented for use on already existing models, so it wouldn't be a painful to update stuff creators have made. I'm no programmer, and I'm definitely not a Modder, so I'm not sure how hard this would be to implement.
We have an impressive tank building community, it'd be interesting to see what happens if they get more tools. Is this even an issue? I'm not sure, but feel free to comment below.
Yeah im kinda agree, making a fake tracks using wheel and XML kinda hard to do and im using a mobile device. I think this forum need more upvotes so the developer will seen this :)
@EliCandyYT69 Definitely, I hope one of the developers will see this. I know it can be tricky business though when it comes to dealing with community requests.
@shipster it's fine, I'm just trying see what the overall opinion on tank track is.
@EchoWhiskey11 yep
🤣🤣🤣 I’m not sure how that happened since I remember typing that while reading through the forum I was responding to... @EchoWhiskey11
Oh shi @EchoWhiskey11
I fully support this idea!
And make steel wheels, caterpillars and other types of tracks.
@UltraLight The track could possibly be just an animated surface or something going from one wheel node to the next. I know that's what WoT blitz does. Maybe make the details paint able.
@shipster I think you may have posted to wrong thread.
Thing is, that’s how they fly in real life, it’s just that it’s much easier to move and hold a correction in a large range than it is to “tap” the rudder in SP
As long as we get tank tracks, yes
@UltraLight yeah
Plus, this way you could add independent suspensions onto each node as well, that might be cool
