@SnoWFLakE0s I'm actually responding to a comment you left me in Huax's thread, and I didn't want to further derail their's any more than I had
Yes, I've read through it and have had your FT guide open in another tab for about a week now! Thanks for hosting it.
A lot of it is wwwway over my head though. Not only am I not a coder (and suck even when trying to churn out simple Lua scripts for science ""game"" called Foldit lol), but I'm horrible at math! It was still able to shed some light on everything, but notsomuch in a way my level of knowledge could utilize in any meaningful way.
If you want "A N00bs Feedback" though, on what I think would be really helpful to include...?
1st might be to include an updated SimpleCheats input table -- well, specifically WNP78's as that's the most relevant to your page. Being given the SnoWFLakE0s' treatment towards the finer details, of course (ie The categorizing some things as "Numbers" is fair, but slightly inaccurate since it's such a general term; some require numbers but only accept whole numbers, whereas some that do accept decimal will only allow tenths values).
2nd Some things I've been looking for but am unable to actually locate info on, is a breakdown on the parts in terms of what they "support" in the way of not only the valid values their default entries can accept (ie not all 'Input' are created equal, some accept more than others).
Just as well, also what additional fields can be manually added that certain parts can accept and use. (ie the Secondary exhaust color isn't there by default on every jet engine part, although they will use it if you add it; however, the VTOL Thrusters which use the Primary field, unfortunately cannot accept a Secondary.)
3rd ^_^ More "simple" examples for n00bs like me! lol
Some examples I think would be great to include...
-How to have a Beacon be toggled on/off by something like your Landing Gear -- either through using LandingGear
or the Gear
method you mentioned (truth be told, the other Gear input listed on your page confused me, so that's why I've been using the older LandingGear input. I could always trial-and-error to figure it out haha)
-Ways to use clamp
for merging two inputs into one, such as a question I'd asked (and edensk answered for me) about how to make a single control surface function as either an Elevator or Aileron (respond to both Pitch and Roll inputs)
So yea, that's my noob feedback/request!
Thanks again for your guide, either way! As it's a shame that Jundroo doesn't have all of that compiled as a resource for us (or at least where it can be found) considering they have the answers readily at hand (source code), and left it up to the community to gather it.
(Granted, it's really complex stuff, but I think we can all agree the game long outgrew its name, not only in that things aren't as Simple anymore, but neither are Planes the only things we can make... lol)
snowflake is the god of funky trees
You'll probably see it regardless, but I'll tag you just in case:
