I'm currently working on an Atomic Ao Jun from war robots, and I want to make it as accurate to the game as possible. I want it to have an aegis shield and a repair effect that can be activated by activation groups.
The repair effect is a pulse/wave of green light that goes up and down the mech. I haven't though of a way to do this, short of putting an array of timed, green beacon lights with halos right below the surface of the bot. The problem with this is that it would take a long time and would be part-heavy.
The aegis shield is a yellow hexagonal dome shield that protects the robot when an activation group is activated. Again, I know I can make this shield permanent, but I have no way to make part visible (when it was previously invisible) and changing the collision XML to true at the push of a button.
These things are most likely impossible and I'm sorry for wasting your time, but if you have any ideas I'd love to hear them.
@IceCraftGaming
look at this
@X99STRIKER oh... it would be cool though
@IceCraftGaming
Supposedly.
@X99STRIKER it can?
@JustWingIt you mostly just use the alpha tag, or color tag if you want to fade colors as well.
Get some kind of animation timer variable and use it to decide the alpha or color value
how to make circular label (you can use other characters than the pipe |, like period or large square)
@hpgbproductions Nice! If you could give me a few links or some code, that would be awesome!
@JustWingIt
Indeed you can.
@X99STRIKER SRSLY? NO WAY! I CAN MAKE THE REPAIR ACTUALLY WORK!
@X99STRIKER Oh yeah, and then I'll also make a drone flying beside the robot (invisibly attatched to the head) that will have various effects too! This is gonna be legendary!
@JustWingIt
👍
You can actually repair with a gun set to negative damage.
Repair wave effect: maybe you can use multiple labels or a circular label (360 degrees curvature) to approximate it.
Aegis shield: labels can become fully visible and invisible with FT, I saw someone make hexagons that do that. A ball shaped shield will need one label per hexagon
@X99STRIKER HOLD UP I HAVE AN IDEA!!! Rather that applying these effects to the robot, I could just have a camera floating behind the bot that is conected to the head. (from the 3rd person perspective in war robots) I could make all these effects on a small scale in front of the camera, to make it look like thats actually happening to the robot when you look through it! For example, flashing green lights mounted on the camera but just out of veiw could do the repair effect! And a small hexagonal dome could be moved by a piston in front of the camera (into veiw) to look like its around to robot! Phase shift could be done by very bright blue lights mounted on the camera! Mothership support could be simulated by a floating gun in the sky with 0 damage that makes it look like its shooting some sort of repair beam down at the robot! Then of course, I could make a little static health bar in the corner like in war robots. This is gonna be such a cool illusion... But it'll break if you look at the bot from the front and then you see the mess of stuff around the camera. I could release a version with it and one without it...
@JustWingIt
It’s a different game designed for different things.
@X99STRIKER Thats what I was afraid of. Who knows, I might find some way to do the repair effect but I have absolutely no way to do the aegis shield. Or phaseshift. Or the mothership support. Or last stand. Or health bar. Or on-screen controls.
I haven’t played that game in a while…
I can’t think of a way to do it, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one.
Tag me when it comes out.
