Look I know that there's gunna be that dude in the comments who's like "bruh it's like so hard to like follow pre made blue prints that I just got from goodel and like suuuper ez to make a fictional plane like bruh -_-"
And as someone who has made the following replicas
F-14
MiG-21
(F-5E not released yet)
(F-8B not released yet)
Yeah it's hard but wow, I tried to make a custom craft, and geez it looks terrible.
And I know that making a "good" replica, is not easy just ask the F-14 I made, im still not happy how it turned out, but F-14D 2024 UwU?
So by all means yes those who do make replicas that look "good" are yes good but those who go and do there own thing no blue prints and still manages to make it look "good" they also deserve your updoot to.
So really why making replicas are so easy is this
All you need is basic fuselage skills
Some free time
A blue print or two
And then the SP website so that way you can post it
Where as for the fictional plane
You need inspiration
Basic knowledge on how to play the game
Decent building skills
And knowledge on it should look
I mean compare that to making something thats already halfway done you just need to put in the time? Yeah making replicas is easy.
Note sorry for poor grammar? Non using of these ,.:;', things?
Thing is, if you try making a fictional aircraft WITHOUT inspiration from pre existing designs, it will look ass most of the time unless you are very creative, wich adds a whole level in the building process. Making a replica is still hard tho, you can avoid certain shapes with fictional builds, for replicas, it will be hell. Take for example the F-22. Those wings will be hell to replicate accurately, as well as the nose shape. If i tried to build a fictional 5th gen (i did it in the past) i could avoid those and nobody would notice. Eeach has its drawbacks.
I find it easier to make custom planes because replicas still require some creativity anyways (since the blueprints aren't always perfect and often don't show some things like the bottom of the plane), the only difference is that on custom planes I don't have to match up perfectly with an image, and if something is annoying to make I can just build something else in its place.
It often leads to the finalized plane looking nothing like the initial idea, but that makes it more fun imo.
@RepublicOfCursedPlanes This is true if you imagine:
1. Lego is made of magic clay that becomes harder to hold the more pieces you add and each part needs to be shaped by hand with a paperclip.
2. The "instructions" are just a drunk guy next to you trying to describe the death star, occasionally glancing over details you'll have to learn about from elsewhere.
An analogy: Making a replica is like building a Lego set using the instructions, while making a fictional plane is like starting from scratch with a pile of spare bricks and your imagination.
nah its hard on mobile to make replicas but on pc its different story
@Hiimakeplanes cool
I just use war thunder vehicle viewer.
@SILVERPANZER all true (at least to an extent), I think that people appreciate replicas, because they can relate to planes that they do like, and hate. And think are cool and not so much for one they have never seen before.
@ShinyGemsBro bruh
Honestly, using blueprints has it's own difficulties, in my opinion.
This is one long way of saying skill issue
@JFUB I do agree
@FoxG so is it that you translated it from another language or
@FoxG wait that was translated? That sounds better then what I can do sometimes. But anyway you also have a point that also needs to be stressed
@RepublicOfCursedPlanes @Korzalerke2147483647 it is up to personal opinions as well
@RepublicOfCursedPlanes correct
