Hi everyone! I haven't released a big project for well over a year now, but trust me I am still working on stuff. Slowly.
My weka is getting close to completion, but I've suddenly and spontaneously discovered the joys of playing Skyrim about a month ago, and well I haven't really played anything else since.
Anyway my Weka rework is getting close to completion, and should be done within a couple of months as long as I play SP somewhat lol.
Anyway, what I came here to say:
Suggestion 1: the ability to downvote comments.
Okay here me out— This is not something that will make you butthurt and negative. If I'm correct, I think it'll have the opposite effect. But first let me tell you a story.
Back in the very early days of the website when we gave people's planes a rating out of 5 stars instead of upvoting, it caused arguments when someone rated their build low because the person who made the rating was public, and often it would be for petty reasons, and back in the day, when there was an issue with your plane, there was no way to update or change the plane other than uploading a whole new one, so you were kinda stuck with the bad rating. Plus it would make really bad situations between people with fudes and grudges, potentially causing more fights to happen. And frankly, giving new players low ratings because their builds sucked is a very salty environment to be introduced to. I suspect this is why downvotes haven't been added to the website.
But for comments... downvoting makes a lot more sense. First off, if you downvote a comment, it's almost completely anonymous, so you won't get feuds forming between people. Plus, adding the ability do downvote comments encourages people to behave better, since most people tend to like being liked, rather than disliked. The main reason I suggest this though, is often in discussions and debates, only having an upvote feature might not be representitive of what the community actually thinks, for example there may be a small group of people who like the comment, but the majority of people think it's terrible and dislike it. Unfortunately you're not going to see that reaction because you'll have a few upvotes and think people generally agree with you, which isn't the case.
Note that this feature will only work for comments because you don't get any points from their rating. It will be a terrible idea to add this feature to builds.
I'll also note that it may be cool to have reactions for forum posts. inb addition to upvotes, we could have stuff like "Agree and disagree", "Tag", "Funny" and "informative". Woo yeah player interactions and stuff. Yay!
Idk how hard the like and dislike feature will be to add, but it might be useful to have a trial or something see how it goes.
Suggestion 2: The ability to comment with pictures
Back in the very early days of the website, the devs accidentally made it possible to add pictures to comments, just like you can in the main part of posts today. Not gonna lie, I wish they kept this feature because it made comments sections so much more interactive. It would be really handy because pictures and diagrams are so much better at getting your point accross. You could also make forums asking for assistance with research and you could get people commenting with pictures they want. In posts you could have people commenting with cool screenshots they took of your creations and posting funny gifs and stuff.
This seems to work well in other forums and I think it'll work well here too. But obviously add a lower points limit for posting pictures, otherwise we will get porn bots and stuff. We don't want that lol.
SP also really needs something for formatting help too. I don't want to have to upload my pictures to an image sharing website then write ![](image link) every time I add a picture. It would be really nice if I could just drag and drop files into the forum post and the website would format it for me and make the image link. This is what the MSFS forum does. It's super handy.
Anyway image sharing in comments seems to work extremely well in other forums so it would be cool to have it here too.
That's all kthxbye
you thought you could get away with using my copyrighted kthxbye? not on this site you ain't

Suggestion: MAke Knightofren a developer and allow them ban priveleges, maybe they will return
kthxhi!
@RailfanEthan 😭
@Strucker sure
You forgotten something. The ability to disable comments by your own. Meaning you don't have to contact the mods to do it
@Pan Thats a good idea, but could be a bit creepy sometimes
what about seeing who follows your account
I like the idea of downvoting comments and adding reactions to comments.
.
For commenting with pictures, i think the current method of using links is good enough. Embedding images increases loadtimes and data usage. If the sp website hosts images, then the server data will grow much faster than it already does. Some sp users, both low and high ranks, don't consider the size of images and will push tens of HD screenshots into a single plane description or forum post, and adding to comments will worsen the load times.
@Sm10684 can I tag you on an upcoming build lol
@Strucker points aren’t consistent like that. If that was true you’d have 62,000+ points.
Let’s build something
@Sm10684 lol you say as i make like a 10th of that in a week
Essentially, make this like all other forums
@TheCaper yes
@Strucker yeah it’s not hard I made 2000 points in 2 days,
@TheCaper I kinda like the points per download, as it awards for having people actually download it than just pressing a button. My only thought is it may be potentially abusable.
@Sm10684 Darn, I can’t say it yet then. Only 5800 more points I can do this lmao
