LTV A-7E Corsair II - Late
Gator of the Skies, Short Low Ugly Fellow
The A-7 Corsair II was created as the main replacement for the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. The A-7 was a derivative of the F-8 Crusader, it had a shorter fuselage, and had subsonic speeds compared to the F-8.
Being a derivative of the F-8 allowed the A-7 to have cheaper production costs and made for simpler construction overall, It is an iconic airframe, operating in Vietnam, Gulf of Sidra and served its part in Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield.
