There are many posts on simple planes, but not all of them are really good. Here is a definite way to tell if any post is just good, or is actually really good.
1. Number of upvotes.
If the number of upvotes on a post is more than the number of downloads, this is a definite sign that the build is extremely good.
2. Rank of the person who posted the build.
If the person who posts a build is platinum, that is a sure sign that the build is better than other builds. The number of points that the person who posted the build has is directly proportional to the quality of the build. This is seem very well in some of jamesPLANESii’s posts.
3. Number of comments made by a mod.
If a post has many comments by a mod (the content of the comments does not matter that much) it means that the post is good enough to get a comment by a mod. This is an exceptional post.
4. Type of post.
Joke posts are by definition higher quality than replicas, and should always be treated as such.
5. Description.
A post with no description is infinitely better and higher quality than a post with a description. This is because people that actually spend time on their posts do not have time to write descriptions.
6. Similarity to a german corsair
The more similar it looks to the german corsair, the more high quality it is objectively. (Thanks to TriStar)

Part count, that's the main decider with my ratings, it's the purest forum of judgement every part is a part that normally takes the same amount of time so with higher part counts = higher build time = more effort = more skill = great builds. Now a few more factors like these listed come into play but part count consists of 75% of my ratings.
You forgot to list that GuardianAerospace aircraft are also high quality and built for VR ;)
