Helicopter Help

7,387 F16xl  4 months ago

I’m working on a modified CH-47 [Radically different] and need help stabilizing, yes I put a gyroscope, and yes I reversed the direction of the rotors. Someone help please, if you have built 5+ helicopters [and think your good at it] comment “I’m in” and I’ll tag you, if you know someone tag them so they can contact me or I can contact them. Thanks for your time!

I see. Try the first option I gave you of setting the torque on both of them to 0.

@SamTheUncle In the form of a rotor that counter-rotates the one in the front

Do you have a tail rotor?

@SamTheUncle Thanks, but the problem is that whenever I turn the helicopter will go into an uncontrolled rotation, and my COT and COM are on top of each other.

    If its twisting, do this:
Go into overload, scroll down all the way to rotorPerfScalars (I may have spelled that wrong, butits the last one, you cannot miss it)
Then, scroll down to collectiveTorque (its 3 or 4 rows down)
It will be set to 1 by default. Change it to 0.
Do this for all the helicopter motors.
This will help fix stoping the helicopter twist.

If it is rotating forward or backward, go into the menu button on the side, and click on the button on the side. (Step 1 in the image)
Then, click on the button on the left, in the menu. (Step 2 in the image) It will add 3 spheres that show COM (center of mass) COL (center of lift) and COM (center of mass) here is the first image.
It will now show a blue, red, and yellow, sphere, somewhere on the plane. They should all be centered left right, (on the X plane).
Next, you need to locate the red and yellow spheres. They will be in two completely different locations. (They could be close, but from the problems you have been having, I suspect not.)
You then can change the mass of the fuselage, (using overload, the part settings panel, adding small blocks, etc) until they red sphere (center of mass) and the yellow sphere (center of thrust) are in the same place on the forward backward plane. (The Z plane.)
    It should look like this
They can be in different locations vertically, but they should be directly above one another.

Makes sense? If you need any other help, feel free to ask! I am right here.

I haven't built five helicopters, but I do know a thing or two about SP's rotor mechanics. Tag me unlisted and I'll take a look sometime in the near future.
