I've recently been introduced to the premise of the 100 word story. Decided to give my go at it.
The terrible hiss pierced its way through steel and into the skulls nearby, ritual obligation fulfilled.
Under awning the traveler pondered, mirror schedule posted clear. In waiting for the magnanimous coachman dull unfamiliar comrades coalesced, only coughs and shuffles carrying the mood of others’ brains to ear.
“I’d never have thought transit so alike home,” the traveler muttered, eyes stalking trams.
“Where are you going? Or, where are you from?” a poetic soul adjacent teased.
“Drumheller, Moscow, Dubai, Melbourne,” wanderer’s words mused. “Elsewhere.”
A quizzical glance, unspoken prod, shot from left.
“You haven’t boarded. What are you?”
“Out of change.”
I'd appreciate it if you'd say what you thought it meant, as a way for me to work out if I'm speaking nonsense or not.
