@Boeing727200F Apple's "planned obsolecense" is them decreasing the amount of power allowed to be used since batteries tend to have lower capacities after lots of charge/usage cycles. Since your battery is six years old at this point, your phone is probably using a fraction of the power it used to when your phone was new. Get a new battery and your performance will jump up a ton. Maybe not quite what it was when it was new (newer OSes are harder to run), but it will be a lot better than it is now. A replacement is 30 bucks, plus whatever it costs to hire someone to fix it if you aren't confident in your DIY skills.
I have an iphone 12, roughly the same as or maybe a little worse @V in overall experience but pretty similar in terms of specs
device and model: iphone 12
chipset: Apple A14 Bionic (about 9% faster than the snapdragon 8 gen 2 but about 12% slower in multithread, single thread is what matters for most stuff)
RAM: 4 gigs (oof, that's bad, even by the standards of a four year old device, probably also the differentiating factor in terms of SP performance)
storage: 256 gigs (Apple walked my parents up the ladder, what can I say)
screen: 6.1 inch OLED (technically worse but the Apple XDR displays are very high quality)
camera: mediocre by today's standards
@V your specs are mid, iphone 16 pro is better >:)
does math
wait, that's not right!
this phone is half the price and the differences are only really the questionable implementation of local large language models and preference in operating system!
Impossible!
I could have stood a chance
IF ONLY THINGS WENT MY WAY
@Boeing727200F that's unfortunate, probably the reason as to why im more of an android guy (aside from the price of iphones) in general, and as an android fanboy myself, i can definitely tell you that i've had ancient ass android phones from either 3 or sometimes even 8 or 9 years old that STILL work perfectly fine last time i checked
@KevincastleSP I’m sure that the specs are worse because of planned obsolescence
Apple is known for it
@Boeing727200F here
iPhone XS
iOS is 18.1.1
I have no idea the specs
Planned obsolescence is really fucking with my phone :(
@LM0418 here
