I think it's okay if its for the "depth" of the aircraft fictional history, like "it crashes in 1987 due to malfunction on both engines, which prompted the next model to have different engine..."
I think that way it doesn't sound like the accident just... exist for no reason at all, and less likely seen as insensitive.

it very much depends on the context
if you're writing your own lore about a fictional aircraft you can write one accident to point out it's flaws that can possibly lead to it's reputation be crumpled or to explain the reason of improvement over the systems it has.
other than for lore or memoriam imo, it's not so great.

especially not good if it's "just for the sake of it", like hpgb said.

it highly depends, i have sometimes mentioned that past accidents or flaws get fixed in the uploaded or future variant of the plane, but it is just that, a brief mention

Depends. Is it a realistic, well-crafted and intriguing tale of tragedy and ill fate, or is it "the plane crash, everyone die, so sad, it looked like this, the end"?
