Fighter Jets are expensive. Duh.
They are heavily armed aerial acrobats, marathon runners, and sprinters all in one capable of seeing thing from dozens of kilometers away and are built to kill.
That being said, not all are of the same price. Older, less advanced designs often come cheaper. Some are simply designed to be cheaper, often through compromise in capabilities such as sensors or range. Some are high-end designs that'll put a hole in your wallet almost as big as the holes they put in the enemies they face.
Should you or your organization go looking to purchase a jet, new or secondhand, what price range would you first look?
(USD for standardization reasons)
$20 Million range? $50 Million? $70 Million?
Higher still?
This information is relevant for Graingy's business, so we're quite interested.
I’m not looking for joke answers. If you have nothing useful to say then don’t say anything at all.
@Randomplayer Preaching to the choir.
@Graingy I don’t know what I meant tbh.
@Randomplayer that’s the US. Not minor.
It’s honestly impressive how cheap it is. Its a beautiful jet
@Graingy I found a skyhawk for 495k here
@Randomplayer We're doing USD. In USD that'd be a lot lower.
Minor nations didn't typically produce jets. If they did, they'd likely be expensive by virtue of being museum pieces.
@Graingy 500,000 SOD. Also you can probably find some crappy Cold War minor nation jet for that cheap
@Ashdenpaw1 The age of airframe purchased is dependent on price, not vise versa.
An older, less advanced airframe would be purchased because a newer one of that class would be too expensive.
Depends on age
@Graingy
Blame my brother it was his idea
@Ashdenpaw1 See the pinned comment.
curse of ra
@THEOKPILOT lmao.
Look, if I ever get around to adding late model Archfiends to the catalogue on this site I'll have to remember to tag you.
@Graingy Yeah I got 160 million. And about another 5 million. And that's it.
@THEOKPILOT I see.
"Has to" in the sense of "Most definitely is", not "Is not acceptable otherwise".
Funny, eh?
Do you have $160 million?
@Graingy I was meaning that compared to my vehicles, the F-26 is more refined than I am. That also would be pretty damn funny.
I could be a really funny bastard and recommend you the most recent model of GHF-79.
@THEOKPILOT odd how you ask for refinement despite lacking any yourself.
@Graingy I drive a car missing a door capable of going 120 miles an hour. It has to be more refined than me. And ALL my planes are masters-of-none. Miles an hour, also.
@THEOKPILOT F-26 was designed to get the highest possible speeds at the lowest price short of rocket engines. It was not a very refined design by its cancellation.
T-27 was a cheap trainer, not a ground attack aircraft specifically. It was a master-of-none aircraft intended to familiarize pilots and ground crews with jet propulsion.
500 what? Kph? Knots? Mph?
@Graingy I think the F-26. I was debating for the T-27, but that is a WAY better ground attack plane, not quite what I need yet. I need just a basic air defense fighter, capable of going at least 500, so I think the F-26 is perfect.
@THEOKPILOT Alright. I could send a request for derelict early Cold War models. Mostly units kept for parts.
Probably would cost a couple million depending on exact condition. Earlier versions would go cheaper.
T-27s Always go cheap, even fully functional. The listed price in the description is no longer accurate due to recently increased demand. One will cost around $175k USD.
BF-10s were a budget development from many years back. It wasn't a big success so we still have a number in stock.
F-26 Is half engines. Literally. Most of the price tag was the actually really capable propulsion. The rest of the aircraft is... less capable. We can replace the engines with something more modest if you want cheaper.
@Graingy Yeah, I guess. Or else I'm doomed. The early bird gets the worm, the late bird gets nothing. Or hopefully a bunch of old fighter jets.
@THEOKPILOT Mhm.
So you're looking to make a purchase, if I'm getting this right?
