Organizing aircraft

29.2k Viper28  8.7 years ago

So recently I've been trying to better organize my planes. I've developed a system and I wonder how do you organize. Are your planes neatly catalogued or a jumbled mess like mine?

My System: Vi-letters-numbers
•All planes start with Vi- (for Viper industries)
•next a letter or pair of letters are its category such as; AL-air lines, F-fighter, FA- Fighter/attack, SA-stunt/acrobatic, B-bomber, H-helicopter, etc.
•Finally the number is its individual ID (any number I haven't used before)

Ex:
Vi-AL-13
Vi-F-23
Vi-SA-320
Vi-AL-4
Vi-FA-50

i do "WWII (Aircraft name)" for ww2 related stuff
and "[Aircraft name] (builder name)" for downloaded planes

@MrSilverWolf I do something similar, but the planes saved on my device are named like an inside joke. Take my Slightly Overkill... plane as an example. I saved that plane as "Overkill?" on my device. When I went to upload it, I sort of answered my own question. I also have my Fat Man (Nuke) saved as "Gibby" on my device. (Gibby is a rather large cousin I have)

I've built that plane like 2 weeks before I came across this website and I never uploaded that plane, instead I made and uploaded a really terrible Cessna 337 Skymaster @Viper28

That would be nice but I doubt it with how they're set up and what the devs are working on @Supercraft888

But my saved planes list is a complete mess.

What I do is assign my planes with model numbers for example Model 6 and every plane (fictional planes only get the model number) I built has that, then when I go to upload them I give them a proper name such as the A455 but after that I don't save them as that name I keep them under the model name.

You consider your system a mess? It's got to be the most ingenious ones I've seen on this site ever... my planes are nowhere near as organized as yours
