I tend not to like the in-game background music so I have that off 99.9% of the time, I typically listen to 40s music, I have noticed the game crashes more often when I have my music (on apps such as pandora, the default music app ect...) turned than when I don't have it on...
I listen to my washing mashine:)

I crank hardcore tunes when I work, I have a specific playlist for energetic music.
Speedcore mostly. Anything fast, heavy, and electronic.
But I'll listen to just about any form of music, so my casual listening playlist is incredibly varied.
I listen to 80's music or country.
I find when I'm building, it's best to bloci out the world. Let your mind roam free. Don't focus on the lyrics or what instrument is being played. Focus on the build. Let your thoughts have no end for building.
I just listen to the simpleplanes background music. It's really relaxing.
