Why does this happen????

12.6k Flippos  8.1 years ago

So I make (or atleast try to) maps for simple planes...first time I did it worked like a charm! But I didn't like the map so I started over...ever since then my maps/mods never work...they don't even show up in the mods section anymore, even though they're placed perfetly fine in the mod folder...And another wierd thing is that they all end up being only 33 bytes in size...ALL OF THEM??? Like unity what the actual censored are you doing with my mods???? I followed every instruction...just like the first time...so what the????

@FlipposMC it should work, if you can run the executable, but I haven't tested and can't guarantee anything :/

Also, most servers run Linux, which doesn't run .exes... but if you install the mono runtime, sudo apt-get install mono-complete, then cd (change directory/ current directory) over to the folder which has the SPServer.exe, and mono SPServer.exe, then it should run.
I have tested using mono on a VM and it logs a warning but runs perfectly fine, however, again, I have not tried on a remote server.

@HellFireKoder Oh I have an important question. So I plan on renting a perminant 24/7 server to run multiplayer, but...Could I even do that? Do I have to have simple planes installed on that remote server or just the standalone .exe file? I'm curious...!

@HellFireKoder I can confirm this! I tried recreating the mods folder but nothing. My mods are forever screwed up...Thank's unity! I think I might have to reinstall simple planes, what a bummer :.

@FlipposMC There seems to be a bug where sometimes installing a mod will screw up all your mods, though I've never encountered it myself, you should probably see if you can contact the devs and provide them with your debuglog.txt file in your SimplePlanesData folder, though I'm not sure it will be any use to them after any sessions after the time when you originally loaded and found the mods all screwed up :/

@MasterManufacturing I'm familiar with installing mods...what I'm talking about here is creating them (with unity).

@AstleyIndustries The problem is not that.

The problem, Flippos, is that you're actually opening the .spmod files, as I deduce by your creations, you're running the Steam Windows version, first, click the [Windows Key] & R at the same time, it should open a little window, there, write Appdata and click Run. Then, go to LocalLow, then go to Jundroo, then to SimplePlanes, inside of that folder you want to open the Mods folder. Once you're there delete every mod and download them again. Now, don't open those .spmod files, drop them in the Mods folder.

Basically the link is "PC > AppData > LocalLow > Jundroo > SimplePlanes > Mods"
