Ok so, should I get a .17 caliber, or a .22 hornet?

    For the best range/accuracy, use .17 HMR. The trajectory of .22 LR drops off considerably after about 100 meters or so.

    For... what? Are you hunting small game for sport? If that's the case, it depends on what exactly you're trying to put down. Shooting a squirrel... use .22. Shooting a coyote... use .17.

    I've never shot a .17 but I'm 99% sure a .22 is more powerful. A .22 could definitely kill most any small animal.
