The 747-400 has been one of the most iconic aircraft in the history of planes. But recently,many airlines have been retiring it and replacing it with more efficient 787s,777s,and the A350. It was introduced in 1988,so compared to the modern technology of other planes,it's considered,well,"old". Cathay Pacific retired it in last years fall,and British Airways,it's largest operator of this year might do so in just a few years... It also stopped production in 2005 so the much newer 747-8 might replace all 747-400. But still,I really think we should try to conserve this iconic giant of the air.
@WaffleCakes it's a plane
@snowflake it is powered by vodka
@dootdootbananabus what IS that?!
@snowflake then this looks like a sad whale too
@WaffleCakes XD the DC-3 is still in passenger service
Same.
Agreed! I don't really like how A380 looks. 747 is just beautiful
@snowflake
@snowflake lol I sort of agree
@QingyuZhou the 747 will be the DC-3 of the 2050s.
Are you sure? I'd expect there's well over 1000... @WaffleCakes
I have been to the Boeing factory
Then I calculated, and the result I get is, there will still be 30-40 Boeing 747s flying in 2050s. Lol
@WaffleCakes
Rip
@QingyuZhou even though you're right, about 30 or 40 DC-3s are still flying.
But they're still cool ;) @QingyuZhou
While aviation technology was converting from propellers to jet engines in the 1960s, many people thought the propeller airplanes, like DC-7, should be conserved. But we don't need them anymore.
