I'm sure we all used or seen others use the multiplayer mod by this point. However there seems to be a lot of users who often ruin other's experience on multiplayer due to their behaviors, even if they were not intending do cause any harm.
With a help of a few friends and frequent multiplayer mod users, we came up a few things that we should pay attention to.
Disclaimer: THESE ARE NOT RULES* but rather things we thought would be nice for the multiplayer user base can keep in mind of while having fun on multiplayer servers.
Basic Etiquette:
Move out of the spawn point as soon as possible once spawned in. This avoids collision, explosions and angry users in the event of somebody else joining in the same exact location.
Don't block runways. Pretty self explanatory.
Don't carpet bomb. Everybody hates it, lets admit it.
Try not to ram eachother. Nobody likes wannabe kamikaze pilots.
1000x1000x1000 XML scaled bombs arn't funny. Go do something productive with your life please.
Use common sense when loading in aircraft with high part counts. For example, most people are fine with people loading in anything under 800 parts if there are only a few (2-3) people online. However if there are about 7 or 8 people online, it would be wise to get something with less parts. Refrain from loading in anything over 1000 parts as it almost certainly disconnects other users currently online.
Stripping down your designs. If you have a build with a livery, cockpit, interior and comes with moving parts of all sorts, it would be wise to delete parts of the aircraft that you don't need. For example, all my aircraft have a stripped down version that removes windows, seats, doors, cockpit instruments as well as unnecessary external details, for use on the multiplayer servers.
Keep the server passive unless given explicit permission to dogfight with a certain player. Us airliner makers and everyone else absolutely hate getting shot at for just attempting to land a passive darn ole’ airliner. It’s rather irretating and unnecessary.
@Stickyplays
@MrDoolittle I really don't see the point of picking an argument with @Awsomur for no context whatsoever. Stop wasting your time and do something productive. This is just causing unnecessary drama.
@Awsomur ugh that's what that was. Can you not see that? That was my final word. Also that was an analogy, you obviously were not trying to set guidelines. Now please stop acting like I am the one continuing as this is hardly an argument anyways.
I’m not trying to make guidelines or anything, all I did was agree with BaconAircraft. Besides, no one cares what I think anyways. Now can we please just drop this? @MrDoolittle
@Awsomur If you feel I criticize everything you do I won't engage any further even though I never say anything about your planes and sparsely comment on your forum posts. But to help you see my point of view you wouldn't want people like Antia Sarkeesian, who likely have never actually touched a video game in their life, making the guidelines the video game community has to follow.
@BaconAircarft I never said anything about whether what you said was right or wrong as I wouldn't know because I have also never played SP multiplayer. To clarify even more, I don't disagree with your rules but was merely trying to point out that iOS users should avoid input as we just wouldn't know.
Thanks. And while I've never played SimplePlanes multiplayer, I know that these rules are applicable to to other types of multiplayer games. @BaconAircraft
@MrDoolittle I honestly don't see the point of starting an argument with @Awsomur when he only said "All of these are good ideas." Last time I checked that's not an insult.
Plus, whats wrong about someone sharing a bit of opinion? Most of the things said are simply common sense. For example, "Move out of the spawn point as soon as possible once spawned in." You don't have to play multiplayer to share your opinion that this is a good idea, its practically saying that its a good idea not to point a loaded weapon at your friend without owning a weapon. It makes sense.
Why must you make an argument out of everything? I’m sick of you criticizing everything I do. @MrDoolittle
I'd love to do multiplayer but I don't have SP on my computer. One day I'll buy it lol
whom can I relate to spawning 700 part things, I'd say it should be 350.
@Awsomur how can you know what's good and what's not if you have never experienced what you are trying to control first hand?
So? I still think it’s a good idea. @MrDoolittle
What discord server?
@BaconAircaft
@BaconAircraft really? Oh okay lol
Already exsists. @DemonSniper8
I think there should be an open discord voice chat solely for multiplayer, so we can all run "real" airport control and such. It'd be kinda cool.
dive bombs someone
Every time multiplayer is mentioned, I literally get triggered
I wish people took this into consideration when using multiplayer.
@Awsomur lol you are on iOS tho, you have never played multiplayer
All of these are good ideas.
Good ideas
