A genuine question.

I am not intending to offend anyone

To all of those who live in England, do your history textbooks mention the American Revolution at all? If it does, it is in a negative way? I have always wondered. -Gemista

You ask about what the Brits learn of the American Revolution, but I think the real question is does anyone here know what the war of 1812 was

In Polish history book I saw no word about American Revolution... We wasted time to learn this while learning about pharaons and beginning of Islam...

Either the Americans should have rebelled or they shouldn’t have. I don’t have an opinion on it. @DarthAbhinav

I’m not saying I agree with either of those viewpoints. @DarthAbhinav

I think that the politically correct Brits would think that Britain was opressing the colonies, but some might think the colonies were straight-up rebelling for no reason.

it's gone over briefly in pro american style, but we have so much dark history with the empire it's not really seen as an extraordinary event compared to the rest of it

Generally, everythingabout the US before the cold war are considered positively, most events after that are considered negatively, lol

I am Australian and here it is not really mentioned much but is still important in our history. Australia had not been discovered at the time of the American revolution and when the British lost the war in America they needed new places to dump prisoners and so Australia was "discovered" and colonised by the British and is now the great country it is today. And lets face it Australia is much better than America anyway (kidding)

In the Czech Republic it is mentioned in a neutral/negative way. People here are more pro-russian. The communist party ended up 4th in this years election.
