1.8 suggestion

87.2k Johndfg  7.0 years ago

I'm not sure why no one has suggested this, or why it hasn't been done, but it NEEDS to be added in the next update.
When using a pc, pressing b to brake shouldn't turn the throttle to zero, it should just brake the wheels and the airbrake. When flying a plane in real life sometimes it is necessary to throttle the engine up and put on the brakes for short field takeoffs. This would allow players to do this, and would also be able to help people test brakes more easily. This will also allow people to use air brakes without throttling to 0.
Let me know what you think...

@BogdanX yeah. That bit is hardcoded. :(

@BogdanX it seems to be hard-coded, but it doesn't seem to happen when I use the brake key on my joystick. I guess it could be circumvented but it would easily break if the game is updated.

@QingyuZhou but then flaps don't work when you brake...

Then set throttle for the flaps, lol @Johndfg

@QingyuZhou but then if I wanted to use flaps or trim or anything else, I'd have to turn the engines off to use them, or brakes if i used vtol for those

Try to make the engine input to VTOL, then we're able to VTOL up and brake at the same time

@Johndfg @BogdanX Sorry for now clarifying, yes, real life brakes are only the wheels, but I mean the brakes for the game. I know real planes use brakes and thrust separately, but the brakes in the game do that so there's a shortcut to basically shut down all power. I'm more fond of the feature being a separate shortcut (for assigned keys, but not as a replacement of the brake shortcut.

@Mostly that's not true. In real life brakes and thrust are seperate for good reason.

I don't think this should be added. brakes are for a complete stop, not just locking up the wheels.

@PorkyClown3 then I can't use vtol or trim for flaps or other things

You can always just add them to trim or vtol

@jamesPLANESii maybe a button to cut the engine to 0 and the brake?

    this would be nice

I use the b key to zero the throttle quite often, so maybe there could be a seperate key to do it?
