I'm 34, I loved aircraft of all kinds all my life and I've been playing simulators since I got my hands on IL-2 Pacific-fighters and LOMAC back in 2004.
Eventually i got my hands on KA-50 BlackShark 2 and later on DCS-UH1 Huey.
the UH1 taught me that I Love helicopter flying much more than airplane flying.
Eventually i started my training as a Helicopter pilot in direct result to these games and experience i got from them.
I was never a big MP guy, in fact most of my games are Singleplayer or I play them as such, including DCS and IL-2.
I enjoy setting up Hugh realistic battles like 3 waves of 200 B-17's with escort, enemies and flak in IL-2 and see the carnage that ensues... (which are problematic in MP).
I like designing and building stuff, and i love seeing other people's designs.
I admit I prefer flying my own designs, but some of the designs by the community really blow mind in their ingenuity.
I started playing MP in Simpleplanes, and i'm starting to enjoy it more and more.
I mean yeah there's the occasional Coward Carpet Bombing A%$HOLE, but they are usually lousy dogfighters and are easy to take down with a bit of practice and XML ;)
I don't enjoy dogfighting that much in Simpleplanes MP (I mean I can do that in IL-2, DCS or WT with a lot more realism and a damage model that makes sense)...
Plus i find that XML editing removes all balance and fun from dogfighting and turns it into BS.
However I will let people destroy my creations if they ask me to, or even if I see a "Badass" creation I will usually directly ask the creator in chat: "DO YOU WANT TO SHOOT MY CREATION?" (i will usually go to Wright north to stay out of other players game and commence the happy happy boom boom there)
I will sometimes try to land on creations or open fire, but I will usually ask before I do and say sorry if I don't (no i'm not canadian :P)
the biggest difference between Simpleplanes and these other games,
is that I started to find myself with Simpleplanes website always open on my browser, and when I'm free I just sit there checking out the Community's forum and designs designs and upvoting what i can even if i don't Download it myself.
Those that I do download I usually fly for an hour or so to test how they feel.
the thing is that I feel like I want to give back to the community of Simpleplanes because you guys and girls give me inspiration when creating my own designs!
I also like this community and the creators.
I've been playing Simpleplanes more than my other simulators because of the fact that:
-In Simpleplanes YOU create how complex you want your machine to be, or you can ask the community to help solve that problem for you ;)
(again, some of the creators here are Insanely good!!!)
I Started these "Lessons" about aviation rules and related stuff, and I also started to upload my creations and I have been getting great feedback from you guys and girls so more will come!
If you have ideas for Lessons, if you got a question, If you think there's more to be done in the community...
Let me know and I will try to help if I can.
If you want to check out the lessons:
Navigation Lights Link
Runway Numbers Link
Traffic Patterns Link
If you like something I created or part of something I created, feel free to use it in your own creations.
the way I see it, now that they are uploaded they belong to the community.
@Alpha029 thank you, and I'm happy you like'm!
and for the Orca you can thank Command and Conquer ;)
@Freerider2142 Lol :P
@DerekSP hmm interesting... I'll look into it :)
@F104Deathtrap quick tip: Ground resonance happens Only on the Ground and because of an Unbalanced Rotor.
To stop Ground resonance if it starts you need to Take off!!!
The rotor will balance itself once in the air.
@EliteArsenals24 they are probably in hiding :P
@Freerider2142 I've heard of resonance doing some nasty things to aircraft but I had no idea it could get that bad, especially on the ground.
I have an off topic question. Are there girls in this site cause I seriously don't know haha.
An explanation regarding landing and airport fees would be great. It blows my mind how much a tiny Cessna has pay only for touching the sacred soil of Prague airport. IF I am not mistaken, PRG is one of the most expensive airports in Europe, even though it is a relatively small one
@F104Deathtrap if you want something scary in helicopters with 3 blades or more just look at Ground Resonance :)
@F104Deathtrap XD I will probably do a lesson about different Rotor systems and their dangers..
if you want to understand what happened to you, look up "Zero G maneuvers" and "Mast Bumping" ;)
@Freerider2142 They really, really don't. I tried to pull a fast, nose-up stop in the Huey one time, got some pretty heavy buffeting, I forget the the term for that kind of stall but it was a very loud rodeo for a minute there. Then there was a big shudder and everything calmed down, nice and quiet, just the sound of the wind. Not bad at all untill I noticed the rotors flying through the air about 200 yards to the east. I had snapped the mast and it was a long way down.
@F104Deathtrap couldn't agree more :)
DCS Mig-21bis? yeah i tried it at a friends computer, but i don't own the module...
tho I like the SU-33 better..
PS- people who fly helicopters are not gifted, we're just too stubborn to understand that it doesn't want to fly... kind'a like Orks in WH40K :P
The biggest difference between here and other online games is the almost complete lack of competition. Sure, people try to outdo each other, and there are competition posts all the time, but rarely ever is there hostility.
People here learn from each other, borrowing techniques and innovating on them. It's quite unique, and much more pleasant than an MMO or a shooter.
PS- If the Huey DCS taught me anything, it's that helicopters are outrageously dangerous vehicles and the people who fly them are quite gifted and quite insane. Have you tried the Mig-21?
Oh.
@InternationalAircraftCompany !image
The gunner in my ZiS-30 once bounced a shell off his head. @Freerider2142
@InternationalAircraftCompany all praise RNGesus!
Oh, a fellow Bias Thunder player I see. :)
