Parts List Mod Idea (A useful mod idea for Intermediate-Advanced builders)

17.2k greasytortle  6.6 years ago

I've had an idea for a mod that could definitely help me or any other player out when building advanced planes with lots of parts. I bring you the parts list drop-down menu concept! It would add a button to the build mode that would bring a drop down parts list of all the parts you've used on the plane. There would be icons that you can select to modify parts already there. this would be incredibly useful for parts stuck inside of parts that you can't seem to reach no matter how you shift your camera. I think there would be a search bar to find parts easier and maybe a way to rename parts for an easier time finding it. I also think the parts should be listed in order of when they've been attached to the plane as you, the builder, know when you placed what, and where. I also imagine it would be useful with some kind of ghosting mode if the part is inside another part. Maybe I could just use the X-Ray mod for that.

In those pictures, you cannot select the engine without having to shift the camera about. This mod idea would streamline that process by being able to select it from the drop-down menu.

@JangoTheMango I played around with the Multi-Select and figured it out. Thanks! I didn't know I could do that.

@JangoTheMango Is the steam version of the Fine Tuner mod up to date? I don't see that feature.

@Strikefighter04 Maybe there would be a hide feature so you could hide the different parts from the catagorys like Structural, Wings, Propulsion, Landing Gear, Cockpits, Gismos, or Weapons.

    Fuselage 123, Fuselage 124, Fuselage 125, Fuselage 126...

@Chancey21 They would probably be numbered. Airbrake 1 Airbrake 2 Airbrake 3 etc...

Yes, but SimplePlanes (SR2) should have handy default features like any other normal game would have.

And how would you identify different parts: what if I had 5 airbrakes but only wanted to edit one?

@FastDan Well I think it would be a useful feature to the game so maybe he'd be able to add it to the vanilla game.

I was just kidding,I think it's funny cause he's the programer and you wanted a mod.A programer modding his own game.
