The thing is simple, as in Fine tuner I can pick as much parts are selected and move them, in rasterize I would be able to pick as much parts as I want and make them one solid object. This way it will only count the contour of the object itself and not have like 50 parts just for a jet custom intake or a gear or whatever. This would be very useful for the following: very high part count builds, custom piston engines, high complexity systems, etc. This way we minimize the effort on rendering and have a smoother game!
It probably won’t do much because there are still the same amount of vertices.

argh, this idea has been put forward so many times..... It would have been done by now if it was gonna improve performance that much. Oh wait. The game already does that, you just don't notice, because it's clever and does it in the background...
Yeah, if whole planes could be one part, then the game would be basically lag free!
