Plane Unstable

6 HikoShi  6.5 years ago

I have a large plane that has many issues. One, it always bounces when it is on the ground. I need it to stay stable. Two, it doesn't fly well. When Its off the ground, it just... drifts. Can anyone help me with this?

Also did you notice the signal lamp on top. Use fire weapons to signal

Also, if anyone could fix the plane so it flies better I'd be grateful.

@F104Deathtrap i have suspension xml disabled and turned off completely, it still bounces

Heavy planes are hard on landing gear. I am no wheel expert but I usually just disable suspension to solve bouncing. I would consider doing that and possibly reducing weight. Otherwise, the advice from @ThePrototype should help you in the air.

One your COG needs to be farther forwards, two is that you need suspension for the wheels, and three I don't see any vertical stablilizers

@HikoShi Thanks for showing me that. DId you look at your aircrafts drag physics yet?

@ForeverPie the skeleton of the plane is a lot like you suggest. it can be found here, https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/4FT9S3/Torumekian-Corvette

It could be bouncing on the ground because of the custom landing gear. Car wheels were made with very weak joints and they tend to bounce around when attached to any type of suspension (excluding the built-in wheel suspension). This causes the plane to bounce on the ground. I wasn't able to test the plane because I currently have no access to SP, but from looking at the plane online that's what appears to be the bouncing problem. To fix the drifting, try putting vertical stabilizers inside the landing gear legs, don't add any vertical stabilizers anywhere else because the visual design should work perfectly aerodynamically as-is thanks to the gear legs by default aerodynamically acting as vertical stabilizers.
