Predictions and Thoughts on SR2

137k BaconEggs  6.5 years ago

In all honesty, not that many people wanted another simplerockets, they wanted more updates for simpleplanes. Today's topic is.. rambling I guess.

Predictions

I think SR2 won't get that much attention because although being a nice concept, nobody asked for it, kinda like how solo did in the box office (seriously do NOT see it, absolute dog-excrement).
We haven't gotten a major update in almost a year, which isn't really good for the users playing. We've already seen some people leave for this fact, which is probably not going to change until we get new SP content. Making a game not everyone will enjoy and halt update development for SP will likely hurt jundroo more than it wouldn't.
On another note, if you want a space game like sr2, get kerbal space program, unless you're a mobile peb.

Thoughts

Firstly, the UI looks way too simplified. I don't like the way that fuselage blocks are handled in the way they are resized, mainly because in the teasers there wasn't anything to enter any values in, which will greatly reduce precise editing.
EDIT: There is a method of entering values.. i guess because people said so

Another thing is we don't have that many buildings or runways to land at and "interact" with, both in SP and in the teaser for sr2. Hell, even that abortion fortnite has more buildings and structures.. We've had the same runways and landmass to play with for 2 years, gameplay wise, sp is getting boring.

Also, why do we always have to use the uservoice if we want our idea to actually get into the game? The rules there are weird that there only can be one suggestion per post, which is inefficient in terms of time. It's redundant and it's almost useless compared to the forums.

You’re right. No one saw SR2 coming and no one would’ve asked for SR2. But right now the game looks pretty good. True there’s not a lot of what you pointed out, but all that can change before release.

(By the way, I was triggered when you badmouthed Solo, but I sung your praises when you hated on Fortnite like me.)

Uservoice forgot about me but left my paintbrush tool post up. I know this because I cannot get into my old account no matter what I try, all that happened when I used similar credentials was it making new accounts.

With KSP, you get certain pars like a fuel tank or rover wheels and you can't change their shape or how they look. With SR2, the player gets a broader creativity spectrum. With SR2, the player can paint parts, change the size, rims, and tires of a rover wheel, and change the texture of fuselage/fuel tanks. That's why SR2 stands out.

While it's true that people weren't asking for Simple Rockets 2, it's incredible what they've done, and, by the looks of it, it kinda includes the same principles as SimplePlanes.
Also, updates don't make developers money, so Simple Rockets 2 could possibly be a way to earn more money so they can update both games and perfect their current progress.
Also, with the techniques that they've learnt from SimplePlanes, it's not like they're making a game completely from scratch, it might compose of techniques used in SimplePlanes, and it may even refine it's faults.
Altogether, I'm excited to see Simple Rockets 2's release, and will definitely buy it as soon as it comes out :D

I think your prediction of SR2 not getting alot of attention is 100% wrong.

@Planefun Well, for me to leave, I'd have to drop 2 projects that have been going on for 2 months, and besides, I'm exploring different types of planes, but the game isn't changing, only me and my builds.

@DemonSniper8 Well it just kind of.. happens, there's nothing really special about it
Go and watch the 'Solo, an unbridled rage' video because I don't have the time right now to explain how dog-excrement it was

Nobody had looked as the fact that the devs have FREAKING JOBS they have to make money, updates are nice for us but the devs haven’t made any money

However the devs have hyped it to the point where it is a bit dull and the title SR2 is very uncreative and limiting @Tully2001 @WNP78

i'm looking forward to SR2. I'm starting to dislike KSP for its complications and lack of freedoms in building. I want something that has a more space vibe. Not to mention its becoming spyware and its more of a beta.

@Tully2001 actually I use the Yeager hangars because their floors don't count as "ground" to the game, so when you restart in them they fling you into the ceiling huehhueheuehuh

No, uservoice is a very useful platform, and the rule is there for a reason. Otherwise you'd get lots of "im-more-important-than-everyone-else-so-im-going-to-put-all-my-ideas-into-one-post-so-that-then-people-vote-for-it-and-they-all-get-added" posts with a load of votes, and the devs have no idea how they are to be prioritised. It also means people have to choose wisely where they put their votes instead of just blindly seeing something on the forums and thinking "huh, that sounds cool" and upvoting. As well as this, it keeps everything in one place and frankly, I'm getting quite annoyed (and I'm not even on the dev team lol) at all the posts complaining about x and y and asking things of the developers which would take months to implement fully instead of putting it on uservoice like all the other people because my idea is better and it needs attention on the forums.
