If a coupler system is added you can have a mobile base with a vehicle inside. Regularly you would only be able to detatch you small vehicle from your mobile base. Couplers would allow you to leave your mobile base and explore with your small vehicle but still come back to your mobile base and attach, to move it to other places. Or use a cargo plane with a tank and move the tank from one place to another.
