This isn't an advert for votes or anything, Im generally just curious as to what the community think I can do better, my last build was in my eyes one of my best yet wasn't very well appreciated. Do I need to decrease my parts count to allow tablet users to play? Or increase the part count to add more detail? Cockpits (add 200+ parts) or not? Replica or fictitious? Thanks in advance.
Here's my opinion as a fictitious builder:
If you love replicas and you can afford to do so with time, effort, skill and enjoy the beauty and details of a build, go for it!
However, if you cannot(because it's extremely difficult to build a replica that can fly well and look amazing without doing a hell lot of parts and modding) it's best you either stick with fictitious builds or play for a while, become more skilled, build more, mod more and build replicas once in a while. This works for me since I've joined for a while and already learn't most of the game mechanics, however I was more interested in how the machine works and performs rather than the looks so I'm probably gonna be a half fictitious half replica builder.
@Tang0five oh no, I hadn't thought of it that way... I was just going to build interstellar British aircraft on it ;) sr53 gets to the moon.
@WarHawk95 thanks for the comment I'm focusing on replicas at present anyway.
I think you should do less fictional planes and more historic ones.
But that's only my opinion

seriously this time: try using a designer background mod with simple, natural colours that contrast your aircraft yet is still in the right context. Oh, and make sure the designer circle is hidden. I use this mod for that. this mod looks good too but I haven’t tried it
Try giving it 4-link suspension. That’s what I always use and it never works!
I think there’s a general wind down in users of late. Wait until sr comes out and there will be no one......except me, I’m too tight fisted to spend another 5 quid on a game and it wouldn’t work on this iPad anyway.
@TheDepressedPig yeah I know that feeling. I don't build for upvotes per se, it's just a bit strange and I suppose frustrating when you put a lot of effort in to make something good with things like semirealistic trailing edges and then you get 20 votes and some dude builds a turkey and gets double that (I was going to say flying brick but someone just did that and I didn't want use that as a comparison ;) )
Add more detail. And when you're done, add more. Make it your goal to max out the part count.

It's hard to say, really. That plane looks chubby and unattractive, although it's technically great. Also, it's always builds that you hold in high regard yourself that underachieve on the site. I know that from experience. "I hate this build. It doesn't look right, it doesn't work as well as I'd like, but I have worked too much to just scrap it. So I'll post it.". The build proceeds to score over 100 upvotes, three times more than my second best at the time. I upload a build I'm proud of, and it flops.
The details are perfect, but reduce the part number maybe around 400 - 500 for mobile users while still keeping the details.
Focus to replica, i love replica
Because i'm a android user maybe you should decrease the part count. High part count is okay but my phone can't holding a part count more than 600 parts
