I was flying around with a fairly large bomber last night and made a soft water landing. Instead of the engines cutting off and the plane sinking, it went on at around 170mph gliding on the water perfectly stable, turning nicely with yaw and roll. I then took a larger Hydra Valkyrie I'm working on for a spin and did the same, and indeed it worked perfectly pretending to be an ekranoplan as well. Neither of the planes are buoyant or designed to float.
Neither of them produces an actual ground effect but the illusion is there. I have never tried making an ekranoplan and they seem tricky to build, perhaps increased size and weight make them easier?
The Hydra Valkyrie is something I intended on building for the community but people doesn't seem to be that interested in large military aircraft built to scale so I dropped it for now. Perhaps I should try a proper ekranoplan next? Are they really viable in SP to be worth the time and effort? What's your experience with them?
Maybe try the Soviet Ekranoplan aircraft carrier
I've built hydrofoils before, but not an Ekranoplan..... use very little wing sureface, and make the plane fly near stall speed
