On the 16th day of February of 1969, an experimental Tupolev Tu-144 crashed just shortly after takeoff.
.
Captain Aleksander and Co-pilot Rudy died in the crash. Tupolev has now halted the production of these Tu-144's until they find the cause of the accident.
.
A nearby photographer captured a picture showing the plane moments away from collision
.
Later, he takes another one when the plane crashed
And here is another photo from a different photographer, capturing the debris on the ground
The plane that crashed is a 1 month old Tupolev Tu-144, just recently been finished.
At this moment, we can not confirm the cause of this accident, and until then, Tupolev will not be making any more Tu-144's until the cause is found.
HOW ARE YALL STILL FINDING THIS YEARS LATER?
Causing the plane to stall
I think the plane's hydraulic system failed causing the elevons to pitch up that's why
If only the world knew what was bound to come 4 years later...
(If you don't get this, I'm referring to the Paris Air Show incident...)
Could be @apfel33
Lets be real here, the crash was caused by pilot error, definitely not from the build quality of these things
Wow that's good
please don’t spread ads like that. we don’t want to know if it’s a scam or virusn
@alicetaylor
@grizzlitin , isn't this just too sad
