Last Monday, tragedy struck at the Chino Airport. While doing a retinue test flight for the upcoming Planes of Fame Airshow, the museums N9MB Flying Wing spun out of control while banking. It crashed, killing the Pilot and completely destroying the aircraft.
The Pilot (I'm not going to give the name out of respect for the family) was with the museum for a years and my heart and condolence goes out for the family. He was one of out best pilots and his lost has been heavy on all of our minds at the museum.
You will be missed
The N9MB was only 1 of 4 made and the last of it's kind. There is nothing that can replace it, but it's legacy lives on in the B-2 Spirit.
We will remember both of you
Some of you might remember I made a post like this already, but I removed it 1 hour after I posted it for 2 reasons:
The Museum had not made an official statement until today, and after I posted it, I was told by another volunteer that we weren't supposed to post anything until the museum did, so I removed it.
There were some disrespectful jokes made against the plane and the pilot. For the most part this community is pretty good at respecting people, but I was honestly shocked at what some people said (you know who you are). So please try to be respectful, keep in mind that a pilot died and a plane that can't be replaced crashed and was completely destroyed
Thank you

Yes true @alloutsleepy
Exactly @BlackhattAircraft
@Subnerdica Not just discontinued, one of kind, and that goes for the pilot too.
The only thing more irreplaceable than a discontinued aircraft is a good pilot and a better human being.
@ChiyomiAnzai @alloutsleepy Of all the posts guys....
@ChiyomiAnzai your picture is so cute
i love that plane i wish there was one more
@enzoBoeing757 its the real thing, at least it was the real thing
Is this plane a replica, or a fictional plane?
I'ma built it
Same @PhantomStar
I feel for the family, I know loss.
Same @BlackhattAircraft @shipster
Yeah I know, I’m probably going to try to build a wing anyway @shipster
It wasn’t you @ChiyomiAnzai
@ViridiCinis it's a stupid rule, we should be allowed to build something like that. You can still build that plane, just don't say it's in memory of this accident.
Did any of you knew that this was not the first frying wing? The first prototype flew at 1927! And at that time had a form o stabilizers.
What? @ChiyomiAnzai
No Problem @ChiyomiAnzai
I’m aware of that. Thanks though. @ChiyomiAnzai
@ViridiCinis
I cant say the family wouldn't be offended, but if they take it the right way then I think they would thank you
Right. I was thinking about that rule. Welp... I guess not. Thanks though. @WhyAreWeHere
I understand that they probably made this rule to avoid the memorial of someone/something that might offend certain people (for example, someone commemorating their country's leader while other people on the website might be for another country and have had issues with that leader), but there should be exceptions. Who would get offended but this?
@ViridiCinis
Sadly it says no sypmathy or Memorial posts
Ok. Should I try to build a N9MB for commemoration or does that go against Simple Planes rules or something. @BlackhattAircraft
