I think that the simpleplanes paint system is already good for giving your planes color, but what I would love is decals, or custom images. Basically add more content for the plane painting system. Anyone agree?
Thanks in advance!

Yes please, no more extra meshes as textures 😎👌
@belugasub MintLynx came up with a good idea to fix this problem, as he said that the decal system could consist of just a few basic shapes and would be edited like the fuselage blocks, so there would still be a challenge to making good looking decals
@BuiltBionixInd10 Ortho is just different shades of grey. It is the color scheme used to take the blueprint view of your craft.
@skullcandy01 but as i set this to false and fire up the game the file itself changes to its normal code
it could have been used as a camoflauge
they were dark in all color only one blue hex color

i tried setting this to true
this is an understandable desire as a new player, but decals are a core part of the game now and making them well shows skill and hard work.
Well yeah that would be nice but as Lama was saying, it kinda takes the challenge out of doing awesome paint schemes, and also it for me would be less fun to try painting something when all you have to do is copy and paste a image, its more rewarding, fun and challenging to actually make decals using parts
@skullcandy01 Just like sub-assemblies
@MintLynx Thats a really good idea. Maybe once you make a decal, you can save it for use on later planes, allowing you to make things like signature decals, or just save time.
I think there should be a decal system that involves decal 'pieces' which consist of simple 2 dimensional shapes which can be applied to the texture of a part of a plane. Something you can resize and nudge much like fuselage blocks only in something that will only add to the texture and not add any parts. It would still require precise nudging and shaping with several pieces, making it not too easy, but it would allow custom decals to not take up so many parts. I dunno if it's possible in terms of the programming, but in concept I think this would be the best way to implement a decal kind of system.
@Dllama4 Well the devs dont have to add everything under the sun. Maybe it could be just a few flags, and text, allowing players to use 3rd party image editors such as photoshop to make and import decals into simpleplanes, so that if you wanted to, you could still make a unique and special plane
@Dllama4 well I mean, making it easier is kinda the point of the idea of being able to just paste custom decals onto your aircaft, instead of having to spend an unnecessarily long time creating your own decal that will significantly increase the part count.
@Dllama4 agreed.
I think it makes the game too “easy”.
In my opinion, a plane with handmade decals, symbols, etc. would be much more special than a plane with symbols easily pasted on to it.
Just my opinion.

👌 @CRJ900Pilot
Yes!
The devs and some other peeps say that adding decals to the game will make the planes I go flying photos that take no skill to make have eye candy (which they say in a very negative light for some weird reason), but I think that adding decals will be fantastic because the planes will look far better and the really detailed planes will be more mobile friendly. Adding this feature will cure the main issue with my Kitfox, which has 3338 parts, which the decals take up about 2500 of them.
I kinda made my Kitfox to prove a point a bit about the fact that we need decals as well as a challenge for myself do include as much detail as is physically possible lol.
@plane918273645 The suggestion tag for forums exist for a reason, you know.
Hmm... if only there was a suggestion box for updates... oh wait there is please use it
@BuiltBionixInd10 really? I gotta check that out
yes yes yes yes yes
i did see a secret paint preset named othro in the files named AircraftDesigns.Xml
I agree, but I think it wont be added because it "takes away creativity," or something like that. It would allow for much more detailed planes without the high part count. For example, take @jamesPLANESii 's recent Freedom Fox. Its a great plane and I love everything about it, but with a decal system like you're suggesting, it's 3338 part count could be reduced too about 500. Airliners, warbirds, cars, helicopters, and so many more creations would benefit from this. Besides, interiors and cockpits would also be greatly improved by this. @AndrewGarrison I know me and several other users have asked for this, but it would mean a lot if it were to be taken into consideration.
Oh and sorry James for tagging you, but your opinion would be nice, even though this isn't my forum. But hey, your plane gets a shoutout :P
