Task Group 22.1 didn't encounter any action on the first day, but I promised TheFantasticTyphoon that would change.
Today, three out of the six Scorpion-class PT boats encountered the namesake of the operation, the USS Blackstone (CA-1). They opened fire at 1,350 yards with their dual mount 20mm machine guns, and fired off several torpedoes and each launched 2 cruise missiles. Out of the 6 torpedoes and cruise missiles that were flung towards the armored cruiser, only 2 torpedoes and 1 missile hit, in the vicinity of the
galley, and the bow. The Blackstone started to list 7 degrees to starboard, and she fired off her own salvo of 3 torpedoes, 2 seven-inch shells, and 15 nine-inch shells, all aimed towards the closest two boats. 7 of the 15 shells hit the first enemy PT boat, and one of the torpedoes hit the second. The crippled Blackstone then shot off a Harpoon Missile towards the third boat, narrowly missing it, but causing enough damage to claim it as sunk.
The Blackstone sank 2 out of 3 Scorpion class PT boats that were sent by TG 22.1, but suffered severe damage, with two out of the four boilers inoperable, and at least 266 sailors "killed". The Blackstone limped back to port, to undergo "repairs".
Meanwhile, back on the USS Townsend, a RADAR ping went off, signaling that there were 5 destroyers, 2 cruisers, and 1 battleship patrolling about 257NM from the fleet. Townsend and Indomitable sent out a wave of 75 interceptor bombers and claimed 2 destroyers and the battleship sunk from missiles and torpedoes.
These ships were from TG 22.4, and they are:
USS Roth (DDH-579)
USS Aldaross (DDL-800)
USS Hunter (BB-9)
The group severely damaged the USS Satan (CGN-666), and later claimed it scuttled.
Stay tuned for Day 3 of Operation Blackstone!
Personally, I would allow him to stay, but the everyone else says no. @Jim1the1Squid
Wow. I now have a home to pick with him.
@Jim1the1Squid it wasn't strike it was Vaultech
Wow. Just wow.
I never knew @Strikefighter04 was so strict.
Sorry if this sounds rude, but can I have your old territory?
@CptJacobson
@Jim1the1Squid yep
And they permabanned you just for that?!
@CptJacobson
@Jim1the1Squid all I asked was for better moderation and to give those banned a second chance and well to moderate the criticism and stuff like that
What?!
Tell me on Hangouts. I'll look at it later. Or just tell me right now...
@CptJacobson
@Jim1the1Squid well im Premabanned form the SLRP for consulting Strike about a little bit of change
Ok.
@TheFantasticTyphoon
@Jim1the1Squid
It's late here, but in the morning I'll likely make a post about the new additions to the fleet since Exercise Tigerfish.
Oh, I see where you went off the tracks.
Yeah, I meant 6 missiles and 6 torpedoes from each boat.
@TheFantasticTyphoon
@Jim1the1Squid
It doesn't read like that though. I thought it meant the total number of torpedoes and cruise missiles was six, rather than six of each.
Sorry to be a pain.
Except each boat launched two torpedoes and two missiles, and there were only three boats sent out. Multiply 2x3 for the torpedoes, and 2x3 for the missiles, and you get 6 torpedoes and 6 missiles, totaling 12 projectiles launched at the USS Blackstone.
@TheFantasticTyphoon
The maths isn't quite right though. If three torpedo boats each launched two missiles then that makes six missiles launched, plus torpedoes. I recommend changing it to "out of the ten torpedoes and cruise missiles launched ".
@Jim1the1Squid
Yes, that's better.
That better?
@TheFantasticTyphoon
Ahh, I forgot about those...
@TheFantasticTyphoon
@Jim1the1Squid
You know the Scorpion-class torpedo boats also carry eight cruise missiles don't you?
Yes, Indeed!
@TheFantasticTyphoon
Proceeding well I see!
